ABOUT YOU

As a Senior Accountant / Controller with Placemaker, you will spearhead all accounting projects and guide decision-making for short- and long-term planning initiatives efficiently and within budget.

YOUR KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES :

Full-Cycle Accounting & Cashflow Management : Oversee all aspects of accounting operations, including general ledger, AR / AP, month and year-end reconciliations and management of financial statements.

Prepare and monitor project and consolidated cashflow statements for all related entities including amalgamated operating, investing, and financing statements.

Financial Metrics : Partner with the CEO to develop and monitor business performance metrics.

Project Accounting : Collaborate with the project management team to draft, manage and monitor project budget costs, project cash flow, and report on / explain variances.

Prepare budgets by establishing schedules, as well as collecting, analyzing, and consolidating financial data and providing recommendations.

Reporting : Prepare and present monthly / quarterly / annual financial statements, source and use of funds reports, annual corporate budget & investing, financing & operations cashflow statements, and other compliance type reporting.

Payroll : Prepare and organize inter-company accounts through reconciliations, invoicing, and reporting.

Taxation : Prepare GST returns for all associated entities, T5018s annually, reconcile tax payments against GL accounts, and coordinator year-end tax filing activities with external accountancy groups.

Management / Mentorship : Provide leadership and mentorship to oversee one Accountant and become fully cross-trained in the role to provide absence support when necessary.

YOUR QUALIFICATIONS :

Along with a growth mindset, you bring the following qualifications to the table :

5+ years of experience in a similar role overseeing multiple projects and responsibilities.

3+ years of experience in the real estate development industry.

CPA designation.

Proven proficiency in Microsoft Excel and experience using technology to manage finance, preferably with Accumatica, Jonas Premier, Procore, Argus Developer, etc.

Demonstrated experience with cash flow projections, forecasts, budgets, costing and accounts payable.

A proven self-starter with sound judgement, a high attention to detail and strong decision-making skills.

Strong ability to take ownership and accountability within the role.

Demonstrated experience building-out accounting controls / processes.
