Business Analyst / Financial Engineer

Our downtown client is a cutting-edge, leading risk analytics solutions and professional services hub for the financial services industry focused on credit, market and liquidity risk management.
Currently, they're looking for a highly motivated Financial Engineer / Business Analyst to strengthen the Services team.
The Services team is dedicated to providing expert services exclusively in Financial Risk Management and Regulatory Capital fields, and help clients derive the most value from their Suite of software solutions.
As part of the Services implementation and delivery team, the incumbent will work within a multi-disciplinary team comprised of functional and technical experts, offering management, development, and expertise, with a focus on understanding client'
s risk and regulatory requirements, and determining how to best configure and implement solutions to meet client needs primarily in credit, market and liquidity areas.
You will help clients achieve successful outcomes, mitigates risks and raises the quality of their implementation, leveraging best practices.
By taking ownership of deliverables, providing expert guidance on risk and regulatory areas, optimally utilizing and configuring the solution, you will provide consultancy, knowledge sharing, and support to ensure our clients receive the best possible advice, guidance and quality of service.
Implement, research and consult on financial risk solution parameterization, financial modeling and validation activities related to Risk Analytics solutions.
Provide consulting services to clients during implementation of risk management algorithms, models, processes, applications and reports focused on credit and market risk concepts, methodologies.
Research and apply methodologies and models for scenario generation and valuation of various instruments to meet client requirements in accordance with industry standards and requirements.
Configure and test solution including data mapping for various instruments; design / build custom configuration and logic for models;
build views or reports to display various node level measures utilizing hierarchies, multiple dimensions, filters or aggregation keys.
Document business requirements, data mapping and data definitions, system designs, configuration specs, calculation logic, use-cases, client processes, and workflows and financial specifications.
Assists clients with financial modeling validation, and verification of features and calculations with use of Risk Analytics' software.
Provide detailed use cases and feedback to product management to drive and advance improvements in modeling approaches, usability of solution and address new requirements in Risk Analytics.
Support pre and post-sales activities by providing financial / actuarial / technical support materials and demos for clients.
Accountable for completion of individual project objectives and deliverables on schedule and within cost and quality objectives.
Provide assistance in training clients in solutions.
University Degree or College Diploma in Financial Engineering, Finance, Mathematics, Business Administration, Applied Science, Statistics, or other quantitative discipline.
Post Graduate / Master's Degree or MBA in Financial Engineering or Mathematical Finance, Business, or equivalent, highly desired.
Preference will be given for MQF (Master in Quantitative Finance), CFA, FRM, MBA degree holders.
Must have strong understanding of risk management concepts and regulations, particularly in credit and market risk.
Minimum 5 + years of experience in the financial services industry covering risk management or related areas. Previous experience in implementing risk related software solutions a very strong asset.
Technical knowledge of : data interfaces and APIs, XML, Unix, data models, and data transformation routines.
Hands-on experience working with one of the following : SQL, Unix / Scripting skills, Python, MATLAB / C / C++.
Must have excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
Experience documenting system design, configuration, complex modeling methodologies, workflows.
Experience delivering effective presentations.
Able to conduct workshops and discovery sessions to clearly articulate use cases and solutions recommendations.
High-level of troubleshooting capability to efficiently determine root cause analysis and resolve errors and defects, and must have strong analysis and problem-solving skills.
Ability to validate financial models to improve usability of solution.
Sound decision making skills.
Must be self-sufficient, and able to maintain tight collaboration within a team.
Ability to work with competing demands in small multi-discipline teams.
Knowledge of X-Value Adjustment (xVA), Fundamental Review of Trading Book (FRTB), Standardized Approach for Counterparty Credit Risk (SA-CCR) a very strong asset.
Knowledge of evolving Basel Regulatory Credit regulations, ALM and Regulatory Liquidity, Limit Management and Workflow Systems for Credit Risk, and Real Time Credit systems.
