Intent of the process

A pool of qualified candidates will be established and may be used to staff identical or similar positions within Transport Canada or other departments for indeterminate or temporary vacancies.

In order to be considered, your application must clearly explain how you meet the following (essential qualifications)


Graduation with a diploma or degree from a recognized post-secondary institution OR acceptable combination of a secondary school diploma and / or training and relevant experience.


EX1 : Recent and significant* experience in developing and maintaining partnerships with internal or external agencies or clients.

EX2 : Recent and significant* experience in comprehending and applying legislation or policies.

EX3 : Recent and significant* experience in providing advice or recommendations to clients or management.

  • Recent and significant is defined as a minimum of 3 years in the last 5 years.
  • If you possess any of the following, your application must also clearly explain how you meet it (other qualifications)


    AEX1 : Experience in conducting regulatory enforcement activities.

    AEX2 : Experience in conducting regulatory investigation.

    AEX3 : Experience in conducting environmental, risk, or vulnerability assessments.

    AEX4 : Experience in emergency management.

    AEX5 : Recent and significant* experience in conducting regulatory or policy based inspections or regulatory or policy based audits.

    AEX6 : Experience in the Aviation industry.

    AEX7 : Experience in the Rail industry and / or Bridges and Tunnels.

    AEX8 : Experience in the Marine industry.

  • Recent and significant is defined as a minimum of 3 years in the last 5 years.

    Conditions of employment

    Secret security clearance

    Required to possess and maintain a valid driver’s license.

    Required to pass a pre-employment Category III medical for Transportation Security Inspectors and pass a periodic Category II medical every 5 years.

    Some positions require performance of stand-by duties on a 24 / 7 basis.

    Required to travel on short notice for extended periods regionally, domestically and internationally using various modes of transportation.

    Required to work overtime and / or irregular hours as assigned including on short notice.
