Duties and Responsibilities

Reporting to the Manager of Special Projects Development and Design Division, the successful candidate will :

  • Participate in or lead special studies on land use, zoning regulations and other development matters
  • Under take thorough research on trending planning and development topics
  • Undertake reviews to keep the Zoning By-law current, in conformity with the Official Plan and reflective of legislative changes
  • Provide advice to City Planning Strategies with respect to implementing zoning by-laws for official plan amendments and special studies
  • Prepare official plan and zoning by-law amendments to implement City-initiated zoning reviews and special study area policies
  • Coordinate comments on City initiated zoning amendment applications from other divisions, departments and agencies.
  • Write reports , attend and make presentations to the Planning and Development Committee and City Council and attend and provide evidence at Local Planning Appeal Tribunal (LPAT) Hearings
  • Liaise with applicants, Councillors, City staff and other parties
  • Perform other duties as may be assigned
  • Skills and Qualifications

  • University Degree in Urban Planning or related discipline with a minimum of three years development planning experience
  • Membership in Ontario Professional Planners Institute and Canadian Institute of Planners is preferred.
  • Highly developed research, analytical, report writing, communication, organizational and project management skills are preferred.
  • Must have ability to travel and provide own transportation and be comfortable working work flexible hours.

    Hourly Rate / Salary : $ 80,638.00 - $ 107,518.00

    Hours of Work : 35
