With coast-to-coast coverage and 24 / 7 emergency service, we offer a wide range of services that remediate conditions caused by fires, floods, winds, mold, environmental hazards, accidents and other casualties at any type of facility.

Position Summary :

The Health and Safety (H&S) Advisor will be reporting to the Director of H&S and will provide coaching and direction to branch management and personnel in their health and safety responsibilities as well as on corporate compliance and reporting.

They will facilitate the training of employees in safety requirements and the implementation of new health and safety policies, procedures, and related processes.

They will ensure administrative protocols are completed as per the health & safety program and are responsible for managing and communicating with CNESST and assisting the operations team with the early and safe work rehabilitation program.

They will manage and validate safety program initiatives across the province / region including our offices in Laurentides, Quebec City, Gatineau / Ottawa and Montreal.

In addition, the H&S Advisor will regularly audit branches / job sites and ensure health and safety aspects of operations conform to company standards and legislative compliance.

This position requires travel between various branches and job sites to support operational staff.

Responsibilities :

  • Coaching / training / facilitating and supporting all employees in their H&S responsibilities
  • Manage temporary contract safety staff assigned to large projects
  • Develop and implement new policies, procedures, and training programs on time and within budget
  • Maintain awareness of amendments to the CNESST and Occupational Health & Safety Act and Regulations, and make recommendations for their implementation.
  • Coordination of monthly leadership meetings and communication of monthly metrics
  • Conducting Field and administrative audits-
  • CNESST claims management including appeals when required
  • Liaise with legislative authorities OHS, Ministry of Environment, CNESST, Ministry of Transportation when required
  • Oversee significant Incident Investigation
  • Willing to travel and periodically work outside regular hours and extended hours when required
  • Experience & Requirements :

  • Minimum 5 years related experience and proven track record in safety
  • Post-secondary Degree / Diploma / Certificate in Occupational Health & Safety.
  • Safety Certification (CRST, CRSP, CSP) or working towards designation is considered a strong asset
  • Knowledge of provincial and federal legislation with regards to health and safety in the workplace
  • Strong communication & presentation skills in English and French, both written and verbal
  • Ability to work as part of a team and demonstrated commitment to customer service excellence
  • Conflict resolution, time management, and multitasking abilities
  • Travel overnight up to 75%
