Grant Thornton is seeking a Licensed Insolvency Trustee with an entrepreneurial mindset and strong leadership capabilities to help lead our expanding market reach in Calgary and surrounding area.

Our team of Licensed Insolvency Trustees are distinguished practitioners in the field, highly credentialed, with a proven track record of technical acumen, business results and leadership.

This exciting opportunity will enable a professional trustee to contribute to our growing Consumer Insolvency Practice. You will become part of a large national insolvency practice in Canada and benefit from the resources and experience of practitioners across the country.

Your hands on management style and strong leadership skills will be used to influence and empower others to achieve their professional goals and contribute to a motivating team environment.

As a Licensed Insolvency Trustee your responsibilities will include : Service Delivery

  • Conducting assessment and signing meetings with debtors
  • Ensuring full compliance with the Bankruptcy and Insolvency Act and directives in the delivery of services
  • Assisting team members in resolving complex disputes
  • Building positive working relationships with Debtors.
  • Developing and implementing technical best practices with respect to their functional area
  • Reviewing and recommending changes to standard operating procedures / policies as required
  • Assisting team members in continuous improvement of processes and procedures
  • Designing, developing and delivering training programs where appropriate Business Development
  • Building and leveraging relationships
  • Ensuring the highest quality delivery of services.
  • Demonstrating technical leadership
  • Assisting in the development and implementation of a growth strategy for the insolvency practice in the region that complements and is supported by the firm’s overall strategy for growth
  • Play a key leadership role within the business unit, community and firm, by actively contributing to the development and execution of the business plan
  • Improving on the operational results of the practice by developing and maintaining productive relationships with clients from a variety of disciplines
  • Contributing to new business development by understanding Grant Thornton LLP and its service offerings, as well as leveraging your credibility within the industry
  • Developing a high-performing and highly engaged team through mentoring and coaching managers

  • Education, Licensed Insolvency Trustee
  • Chartered Insolvency and Restructuring Professional
  • 5 to 7 years of work experience in a professional services firm in Canada;
  • Knowledgeable in all Insolvency proceedings
  • Proficiency in File Acquisition / File Administration and File Closure
  • Contributes to and encourages an environment of high performance, accountability, empowerment, and collaboration.
  • Develops and strengthens our marketing strategy
  • Maintain alumni relationships to enhance professional network
  • Participate in professional, industry or community organizations
  • Promote brand through developing relationships with bankers, lawyers, trustees, credit counselors, and other referral sources
  • Assisting other Trustees in the development and delivery of training programs for other functional areas as required
  • Expert level knowledge of Ascend
  • Maintaining the firm’s standards with respect to ethics and code of conduct for Trustees
  • Strong technical and professional advisory skills;
  • Strong oral and written communication skills with the ability to listen effectively and understand clients’ needs
  • Deep interest in coaching and team development, with a commitment to personal growth
