Position Summary

We are looking for an exceptional Commerce Resource & Capacity Manager to fill in one of the key roles in our newly emerging and evolving Professional Services Delivery Excellence team.

You will be responsible for implementing an effective capacity planning strategy and delivering extraordinary business results through resource planning and allocation, assigning people to projects based on skills matrices, availability, project deliverables, and project budget.

Roles & Responsibilities :

  • Develop and manage capacity planning through robust demand plans based on business trends, current and anticipated pipeline of industries, and anticipated planned growth of accounts.
  • Perform utilization, financial and business analytics requests as needed.
  • Assign employees / contractors to projects based on their skills, previous experience, availability, or project budget.
  • Lead capacity planning to ensure the project team’s resources have enough capacity to deliver upcoming projects.

  • Partner closely with the ePMO / Project Managers and Business Leadership / COE leads to understand the project work and needs to ensure the correct team has been assembled.
  • Assign resources to projects and obtain approval from the resource’s direct People Manager on the assignment
  • Work closely with several departments to define project roles and responsibilities for employees assigned to projects.
  • Resolve any issues regarding under or over allocation of project resources. This may include reallocating resources, adjusting goals or requirements, or assigning new people to the team.
  • Planning team capacity and forecasting recruitment needs for the projects.
  • Managing the resources to align with project timelines and ensuring any capacity gaps to keep to the schedule are either filled or escalated appropriately.
  • Generate and analyze reports to effectively manage resources.
  • Use / develop workforce planning tools to support governance processes, forecasting, modeling, and operational action planning, including strategies to resolve resource conflicts.
  • Monitoring employee utilization, uneven workload, and overtime hours.
  • Mitigating resource concerns by reallocating resources, adjusting goals, or assigning additional staff.
  • Documenting processes and maintaining records.
  • Key Skills and Competencies :

  • A Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience as a Resource Manager in a similar Professional Services environment or equivalent
  • Experienced in building resource / capacity vision to support growing demand
  • Skilled in G Suite (e.g. Sheets, Slides, Docs) and willing to learn additional information systems and or software
  • Experience with project management and progress tracking tools (MS Project, Smart Sheets, JIRA / Wiki / Confluence). Experience with other Atlassian family of tools is an asset
  • Analytical skills : experienced in reporting creation and KPIs, familiar with critical path analysis, resource and capacity planning, and portfolio dependencies from an administrative perspective
  • Ability to analyze and solve problems, perform complex tasks, prioritize multiple projects and follow through
  • Process improvement aptitudes, writing Standard operating procedures
  • Excellent organization and time management skills
  • Ability to make sound decisions and judgments
  • Ability to work to potentially time sensitive and pressure situations
  • Ability to work independently and multi-task, in a fast paced and constantly changing environment
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of individuals in a diverse community
  • Experience in managing budgets.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, and collaboration skills .
  • Exceptional organizational and time-management skills.
  • Strong computer skills including experience with JIRA and Google suite
  • Experience with Capacity Planning Information systems nice to have
