The Sr Analyst / Finance Business Partner is responsible for partnering with the Operations and broader Finance team to provide exceptional financial and analytical support.
In this role, you will work closely with the Operations team to improve the quarterly financial forecasting process, perform variance analysis and create insightful reporting for business partners that will drive business decisions.
This role will be reporting into Director, Finance Business Partner for WE Charity in supporting lines of business under WE Charity to build a bridge between business operations, finance & accounting, HR, and Technology team for effective expense forecasting & reporting as well as implementing continuous process improvements.
Responsibilities and Duties
Provide exceptional financial and analytical support (planning, reporting, analytics, modeling, etc.) to our Operations team, with a primary focus on people cost and charitable project expenses
Improve quarterly financial forecasting processes
Perform detailed variance analysis comparing financial performance with relevant forecasts, and create meaningful reporting to present to business partners with actionable recommendations to drive business decisions
Partner with business on payroll forecasting, cost centre analysis and other ad-hoc reporting
Be a leader in change management to implement better / best practices with business partners
Establish strong business partnerships with other functions throughout the organization
Support WE Charity Finance Director with grant application budgets and reporting
Having a continuous focus on process improvement and efficiency
Partner with the broader Finance group on special projects and financial close processes to ensure complete and accurate financials
Analyze data to identify opportunities for cost efficiency, and while understanding and forecasting cross-functional impacts of related business decisions
Qualifications and Skills
BA degree, or equivalent degree, in Finance, Accounting, Business, or other related quantitative field and professional accounting designation (CPA equivalent)
5-7 years of progressive experience working in corporate finance or accounting, and business / financial analysis, preferably some experience in not-for-profit sector
Ability to build strong relationships with business partners
Excellent communication (both verbal and written) and intrapersonal skills a must
Sense of urgency and ability to work in a complex environment
Ability to drive change, build process and teach business partners why process and systems are required
Ability to systematically improve data quality and build processes that can be automated to reduce the reliance on excel and eliminate hidden rework -
Lean Six Sigma trained will be bonus
Knowledge of Dynamics 365 and Salesforce preferred
Comfortable dealing with ambiguity, incomplete data and performing analysis requiring hypothetical assumptions
Advanced level Excel skills and presentation / reporting guru
Superior problem solving, analytical and modeling skills, combined with ability to effectively articulate results to business leaders
