The Role

We are looking for a Millwright Maintenance Mechanic with experience in a Distribution Center environment. The incumbent will assist with special requests from management on facilities and equipment issues, including but not limited to working with our convener belt and sortation system.

Maintenance mechanic will also provide timely support to all associates by continually inspecting and maintaining the machinery throughout our facility.

Other responsibilities include conducting inspections as assigned, reporting and repairing problems with the compactors, MHE, conveyor, racking, doors, docks, and any damaged equipment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Executes business priorities within the Distribution Centre including but not limited to preventative maintenance and repairs within the scope of training, policy and regulation
  • Automated sorter system preventive maintenance and troubleshooting.
  • Perform documented regular preventative maintenance checklists on machinery, which includes but is not limited to pumps, chains, belts, pulleys, sprockets, valves, air solenoids, actuators, oil levels and all conveyor sorter equipment.
  • Install, maintain, repair as necessary conveyors, sorters, and associated Distribution Center equipment.
  • Fabricate tools and fixtures as required
  • Participate in implementation of continuous improvement initiatives
  • Maintain 5S standards
  • Completes all paperwork and documentation required thoroughly, accurately and in a timely manner. Exercises care in avoiding errors and rework and pays attention to detail in an organized fashion for easy retrieval and reference.
  • Maintains safe environment for associates and visitors. Keeps all work areas clean, neat and organized. Identifies security risks and takes appropriate corrective measures.
  • Identify and report hazards and fulfill all Health & Safety, WHMIS, MSDS, and Distribution Center policy requirements.
  • Required Skills & Experience

  • Valid 433A Industrial Mechanic License required
  • Experience working in a Maintenance department of distribution center with automated conveyor sortation system or similar environment
  • Grade 12 or equivalent is required
  • Experience on MHE repairs will be considered an asset
  • Required to perform material handling duties lifting up to 50 lbs independently
  • Good knowledge of computer applications : Experience with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word) is an asset
  • Proven ability to work well under pressure; strong attention to detail; and strong trouble-shooting skills.
  • Must be able to effectively communicate both in verbally and in writing
  • Must work well individually and within a team
