POSITION TITLE : Senior Safety Design & Compliance Engineer with EMC / EMI skills
SUMMARY DESCRIPTION :
We are looking for an experienced Product Safety Engineer who has worked extensively on Safety design and certification of both automotive components and Information Technology equipment with strong knowledge of IEC 60950-1, IEC 62368-1 Edition 2 and Edition 3, IEC 62368-3, IEC 60065, Telcordia standards, Open Rack standard (from Open Compute Project) and on their associated worldwide deviations.
The qualifying candidate would drive the safety design and certification of AMD Graphics, Data center and Embedded products sold in PCs and Servers.
Candidate would also perform EMC & EMI Design and certification of AMD Graphic, Embedded and Data center products.
Perform the Safety design / testing and drive Safety Certification of Computer and Server Platforms to meet Regulatory & Industry Compliance.
Prepare Safety Design Guidelines, Test Procedures, Test Specification for AMD Graphic, Embedded and Datacenter Platforms.
Provide Product Safety design training to R&D engineers.
Perform Safety assessments for Electrical / Thermal / Mechanical design of Information Technology Equipment and provide design recommendations to R&D engineers.
Work with 3rd party certification agencies to secure the Safety certification of AMD Graphic, Data center and Embedded Products.
Must be able to interface with ASIC / PCB Program / Platform management teams to define dependencies, deliverables and, if required, contingencies on AMD Product compliance Tests.
Perform knowledge-based interpretation of safety standards & negotiate requirements with Safety Certification Agencies on product compliance.
Contribute to maintain and improve AMD ISO 9001 certification on Product Safety & EMC / EMI activities.
May be required to perform EMC & EMI Design and Certification of AMD Graphic, Embedded and Data center products
May be required to perform EMC / EMI simulation of AMD Products with the use of ANSYS Field Solvers (SI-Wave, HFSS)
Strong Knowledge of worldwide Safety requirements (Regulations, Standards, and Directives) for Information Technology Equipment (ITE products).
Strong knowledge of the CB Scheme and experience working with UL, CSA, TUV and other Safety certification Agencies.
Thorough understanding of Information Technology Equipment Safety Standards (UL / CSA / EN / IEC 62368-1, UL / CSA / EN / IEC 62368-3, IEC 60950-1, IEC 60065, Telcordia and Open Rack Standard from Open Compute Project).
Knowledge of Automotive Components Product Safety design and certification requirements.
Strong attention to detail and excellent communication skills. Must have Excellent Technical writing abilities to draft and maintain test procedures, design specification and tests reports.
Strong computer skills with PC troubleshooting experience.
Familiarity with ASIC, Platform and System integration (BIOS / Drivers) and their functionality debug is important.
Knowledge of EMC / EMI design, testing and understanding of EMI / EMC test standards is a plus.
Experience with EMC (emission, immunity / validation, certification) requirements for ASICs, platforms and systems is a plus.
Knowledge of CISPR 32 / CISPR 35 and FCC Part 15 requirements is a plus.
Knowledge of EMI simulation using 2.5D / 3D EM Field solvers (HFSS, CST, etc.) is a plus.
Knowledge in performing detailed Failure Analysis and FMEA is plus.
BS or MS in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
Travel to external labs locally may be required.
