SLR has an opportunity for an Environmental Practitioner in our Ottawa, Ontario office. The role consists primarily of coordinating and project managing sampling programs, remediation programs and general due diligence works.

Reporting writing, fieldwork and client management.

Other duties include preparation of health and safety plans, coordination of field programs, preparation of environmental summary reports for work conducted, environmental monitoring of construction projects, and working on landfill groundwater monitoring programs.

Responsibilities :

  • Participate in all facets of contaminated site projects including Phase I and II Environmental Site Assessments (ESA) and remediation projects.
  • Includes project coordination or management, field sampling, and reporting

  • Conduct field (data-collection) programs involving sampling and monitoring of soil, groundwater, vapour and remediation system operation and maintenance
  • Prepare remedial options analyses, remedial action plans and associated design works
  • Plan, report and track schedules and budgets, all as part of project financial management
  • Conduct Environmental Compliance and Auditing duties
  • Experience and Education :

  • Minimum 4 years of experience in contaminated site assessment and remediation programs, including Phase I and Phase II ESA (drilling, test pitting, groundwater sampling, etc.
  • site remediation, risk assessment and related work

  • Solid understanding of current Federal and Ontario regulatory requirements for conducting site assessment and remediation
  • Experience with various remedial techniques (i.e. excavation, biological treatment, in-situ treatment, risk assessment)
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with demonstrated skill in technical report writing and client communication
  • Knowledge and practical application of health & safety requirements unique to subsurface investigations and contaminated sites
  • Willingness and ability to travel and conduct some fieldwork
  • Work well independently including ability to work alone in remote locations and adapt to conditions / resources
  • Strong computer skills (including Microsoft Word and Excel)
  • Degree or Technical Diploma in environmental science, engineering or related studies
  • Professional status or eligibility for professional status with a professional organization preferred
  • Preference for Bilingual skills in French / English
  • Experience with Environmental Compliance and Auditing
