SUMMARY OF TASKS :
This position is responsible for the routine / preventive maintenance and trouble shooting of the manufacturing and building equipment, including low pressure Boiler and Refrigeration equipment.
Candidate must be willing to relocate to Courtenay BC.
Facilitate the timely and efficient packaging of fluid products;
Carries out preventative maintenance on assigned equipment;
Trouble shoots and repairs equipment in breakdown situations to ensure production efficiencies are achieved;
Provides training to plant staff as required;
Works with other trades groups to complete project assignments;
Works with vendors as required;
Coordinates electrical installations;
Maintains / Programs plant PLCs (if qualified to do so);
Operation, maintenance and monitoring of the boiler, refrigeration equipment and all mechanical and electrical equipment in the boiler and compressor rooms and other areas as required;
Handling of emergencies, i.e. Freon condenser, Glycol, power failures, etc;
Keeping of proper HACCP documents, Sanitary and Preventative maintenance documents as required;
Ordering, receiving and maintaining inventory of spare parts tracking & recording, tracking, etc.;
Performance of other duties as required.
4th year or Journeyman Millwright ticket with excellent mechanical skills and the willingness to carry out general plant / equipment maintenance;
4th Class Power Engineer Certificate of Competency or better ability to acquire by September 2018;
Food industry or high speed packaging experience;
PLC training and experience would be an asset;
Excellent trouble shooting and analytical skills;
Ability to work independently with minimum supervision;
High level of self motivation and initiative;
Dependable with a good attendance and safety record;
Freon / Glycol experience an asset;
Able to work in confined spaces;
Some heavy lifting required;
Must be available to work shifts, holidays, weekends, and on call.
