Overview & Responsibilities / Aperçu et responsabilitésWe currently have a full time opening for an Embalmer at Forest Lawn Funeral Home in Burnaby, British Columbia .

GENERAL ACCOUNTABILITIESPerforms all activities required to correctly and respectfully embalm a deceased loved one.SPECIFIC RESPONSBILITIESEmbalming and Associated ServicesCares for deceased in a respectful manner while performing a variety of tasks which include : Verifying identification and embalming authorizationPerforming restorationsCompleting removals and transfersDressing, styling hair and / or applying cosmetics.

Any other preparation required for human remainsAdheres to all applicable professional, municipal, state / provincial and federal licensing authority regulationsPromotes a safe work environment be being aware of and practicing universal precautions and adopting general principles of safe conductAssists with maintenance of preparation room and the facilityCleans soiled equipment and hazardous material spillsEnsures hazardous materials and spills are handled in accordance with the Material Data Safety SheetsAssists with chemical and supply inventoryReceives caskets and other funeral home suppliesPerforms other duties as assignedRequirements & Qualifications / Exigences et qualificationsEducation : High school diploma or GED equivalentGraduation from accredited mortuary college or other degree as required by state / province lawExperience : Minimum 2 years of experience as an Embalmer, Apprentice in a 200-call minimum / year funeral firm embalming facility.

Certification / Licenses : Must meet all licensing requirement in applicable state / province as required by law as prescribed by each state board.

Valid state or province issued driver’s licenseKnowledge, Skills & Abilities : Knowledge of computers and some software including MS Office products requiredHigh level of compassion and integrityGood communication skillsProblem solving skillsSCI Overview / Vue d'ensembleWho we are.
