Caribou Recovery Team. This provincial team brings together experts in planning, GIS, biology, policy development, modelling, as well as engagement and consultation to plan and deliver recovery actions.
The fundamental purpose is to develop, implement, and monitor new management actions and provincial strategies to ensure we are meeting or exceeding provincial and federal population and habitat objectives.
The Province also recognizes the need to balance social and economic needs of all British Columbians. This includes a commitment to protecting Indigenous rights and interests while maintaining B.
C.’s robust and diverse natural resource sector.
The role of the land and resource specialist in the caribou program is to lead the development and delivery of engagement with Indigenous communities, local government, industries, and interest groups on caribou recovery program initiatives including, but not limited to, herd planning.
