Caribou Recovery Team. This provincial team brings together experts in planning, GIS, biology, policy development, modelling, as well as engagement and consultation to plan and deliver recovery actions.

The fundamental purpose is to develop, implement, and monitor new management actions and provincial strategies to ensure we are meeting or exceeding provincial and federal population and habitat objectives.

The Province also recognizes the need to balance social and economic needs of all British Columbians. This includes a commitment to protecting Indigenous rights and interests while maintaining B.

C.’s robust and diverse natural resource sector.

The role of the land and resource specialist in the caribou program is to lead the development and delivery of engagement with Indigenous communities, local government, industries, and interest groups on caribou recovery program initiatives including, but not limited to, herd planning.

Job Requirements :

In order to be considered for this position, your application must clearly demonstrate how you meet the education and experience as outlined below :

  • A Bachelor’s Degree in a natural resource management related field (e.g. Biology, Forestry, Geography, or Natural Resource Management) and a minimum 3 years related experience or an equivalent combination of education / training and experience.
  • Significant experience managing multiple projects or leading a component (e.g., sub-project) of a complex project or regional initiative.
  • Experience in managing teams in the context of projects or programs.
  • Experience managing relationships with senior level stakeholders.
  • Experience with conflict and dispute resolution principles and practices
  • Preference may be given to applicants with one or more of the following :

  • Experience in implementing provincial or regional First Nations engagement or consultation procedures.
  • Experience providing project management support to a remote, multi-disciplinary team.
