Make an impact on our International Tax team as a Senior Manager. Our Tax team works with individuals and organizations in the public, private and not-for-profit sectors providing comprehensive strategies that minimize risk, meet tax compliance and reporting requirements, drive efficiencies and maximize returns.

Specifically, our International Tax team provides businesses and their employees with taxation advice regarding domestic and foreign assignments to meet compliance and help mitigate their risk.

  • Lead multiple client facing engagement teams responsible for managing U.S. and combined U.S.-Canadian individual income tax return preparation for U.
  • S. citizens living in Canada, U.S. residents working in Canada and Canadians working and investing in the U.S.

  • Assist in carrying out cross-border income tax and estate planning
  • Responsible for quality deliverables such as reports, technical memos and management presentations
  • Manage project financials (budgets, WIPS, timely billing and collection and variance recognition)
  • Correspond with team members and clients in response to specific Canadian and U.S. individual tax queries
  • Collaborate with client engagement team prior to commencement of client work to discuss roles and responsibilities, risk areas and deadlines
  • Identify ways to maximize the relationship with clients and deliver added value
  • Maintain high quality control by reviewing tax returns and other work done by team members for accuracy and completeness;
  • provide feedback to team members

  • Monitor project timelines against targets, adjust where necessary; advise clients of project status and seek clarification on discrepancies where applicable
  • Network and take a leadership role in the local, professional and business community while raising awareness of MNP and looking for new business development opportunities
  • Develop, coach and train team members towards professional and personal development
  • Conduct formal, written annual performance reviews
  • Attend internal MNP courses to further develop your tax knowledge
  • Skills and Experience

  • Completion of a Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation or U.S. Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation
  • Working towards or completion of a Master’s Degree in U.S. Taxation or Law is considered an asset
  • 5 to 8 years of relevant work experience in public accounting and / or tax consulting
  • Knowledge of and experience working in Canadian and U.S. individual and income and estate tax
  • Solid understanding of business, accounting, management and practice development principles
  • Experience working with accounting and tax software such as CaseWare, GoSystem, TaxPrep and / or ProSystems FX
