Points is looking for a Senior Manager, Financial Reporting and Compliance to join our Finance Team for a permanent position in our downtown Toronto office.

This role is an excellent opportunity to lead and direct the success of the overall financial reporting, compliance and corporate taxation functions.
Reporting directly to the Controller, the Senior Manager, Financial Reporting and Compliance will be responsible for :
Responsibility to strengthen accounting guidelines and policies, improve financial reporting processes and timelines and fortify the control environment.
The ideal candidate will possess a professional accounting designation coupled with a minimum of 3-5 years of public company experience, with a strong knowledge of IFRS and Sarbanes-Oxley requirements.
Preparation and Co-ordination of the Company’s quarterly and annual financial statements, and related notes to the financial statements and MDA.
Maintain relationships and act as the key point of contact with auditors and consultants, including co-ordination of all work to be carried out by External auditors, finance, SOX and tax consultants.
Stay abreast of IFRS developments and determine impact to the organization, for example IFRS 15 and 16.
Maintaining and updating accounting guidelines and policies and streamlining the internal control environment.
Co-ordinate the SOX related activities, such as narrative updates, process walk-throughs, library of controls and the company risk matrix.
Review and completion of corporate taxes and related tax compliance filings, including Transfer Pricing.
Advise on complex accounting issues such as : hedge accounting, share-based compensation accounting and capitalization of development costs.
Partner with rest of the Finance Team and Business on technical accounting issues.
Review and advise on accounting related topics for the Points Travel LOB.
Team member on the Netsuite and Blackline implementation.
Key member of special projects, such as the implementation of a new accounting system.
Accounting Designation :
CPA, CA preferred (3-5 years’ experience in a public company environment or audit of public companies);
Strong working knowledge of IFRS, including hedge and tax accounting, and practical experience related to identifying costs eligible for capitalization of internally generated software under IAS 38.
Knowledge of Sarbanes-Oxley legislation and the 2013 COSO Framework.
Experience in corporate taxation, preferably with a public company is an asset.
Experience in an accounting system implementation is an asset.
Strong hands-on working knowledge of Excel models, including pivot tables, Microsoft Office and Google Sheets.
Excellent organization and communication skills.
Ability to work in a team environment as well as independently.
Ability to meet tight deadlines and work under pressure.
The ability to work effectively in a highly collaborative culture.
Experience in the technology sector an asset but not required.
