Summary

Axis Family Resources is currently recruiting 3 x Temporary and Permanent Part-Time and Full Time Specialized Caregiver Supports.

This role involves supporting a young male with severe trauma and attachment history. Tasks include assisting with physical, social, emotional, and daily life skill development as well as applying coping skills in a nurturing environment.

The Specialized Caregiver Supports worker will implement strategies from the individual’s care-plan for dealing with behavioral issues through a trauma-informed lens.

The candidate for this role must be physically and emotionally fit in order to deal with often extreme and difficult behaviors.

Experience with Intermittent Explosive Disorder, complex Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder, and Reactive Attachment Disorder would be considered an asset.

Qualifications & Requirements :

  • A certificate or diploma in Health Care Aid / Resident Care Aid, Human Services or Community Services
  • A combination of 4 years experience and education is required for these roles
  • Applicants who have experience with at-risk youth or challenging behaviours such as FASD, Trauma or Autism will also be considered.

  • A class 5 drivers’ licence and safe driving record abstract.
  • Current Level 1 First Aid (including CPR) Certification (must be completed within 3 months of hire)
  • Approved Criminal Record Check.
  • Skills & Abilities :

  • Good verbal and written reporting skills.
  • Good organization, computer literacy, as well as time and house management skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Knowledge of theory, principles and practices working with Trauma, Autism, or other challenges.
