Job Description
The Financial Analyst is part of the Investment Operations Real Estate group within the Finance, Analytics & Risk department.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to management of the central inbox, day to day transaction recording, maintaining accurate records of real estate investments, accounting for the fair value of private real estate investments, and recording journal entries in the accounting subledger, month-end closing activities, assisting with investment team’s inquiries and regular interactions with investment partners.
The role will partner with departments throughout the organization that impact or contribute to the governance over investment accounting and the production of various levels of internal reporting.
The role will collaborate with the Real Estate Investment team, Investment Structure Management, Enterprise Reporting & Controls, Financial Policy & Reporting and other teams to ensure investment structures are appropriately accounted for, reported and disclosed in the financial statements and for performance and management reporting.
The financial analyst role requires strong prioritization and organizational skills and the ability to work in a high performing culture, with time-sensitive deadlines.
Role-Specific Accountabilities
Manages the central inbox includes providing timely engagement with colleagues / external parties; and ensures requests are fulfilled in order of urgency and importance.
Collects investment agreements and documentation, and manages and maintains in investment database and shared drive folders
Organizes and maintain investment finance records, reference materials and tutorials
Accounting for the fair value of private real estate investments on a monthly and quarterly basis, reconciling it to the accounting subledger and recording accounting journal entries as needed
Conducts transaction management, trade ticket administration, inputting capital calls and distributions and regular interaction with investment partners and external advisors
With instruction, conducts straightforward analyses of defined information (such as reconciliations between systems, financial statements);
proposes reasonable conclusions and / or summaries
Highlights identified issues within the data / information that need to be taken into account
Identifies issues in straightforward situations and assesses each situation using standard procedures.
Assists in the development of tools and templates that drive efficiency and effectiveness for the team.
Maintains an effective ongoing working relationship with internal staff and external partners to ensure issues are discussed and resolved and that compliance, financial controls and reporting requirements are met.
Under direction, identifies efficiency and effectiveness opportunities within area of responsibility and offers solution recommendations
Assists in the documentation and evolution of internal control procedures.

Qualifications
As the qualified candidate you possess :
University degree in business or other relevant discipline.
Experience in a related role within the financial, accounting services or investment industry is preferred
General working knowledge in accounting and understanding of banking settlement system is preferred.
Demonstrates high attention to detail and accuracy; resolves data and information anomalies, coordinates activities and escalates issues as appropriate.
Strong interpersonal skills with an ability to work both independently and as part of a team
Excellent research skills and demonstrated written and verbal communication skills.
Proficiency with all Microsoft Office applications and an aptitude and interest in learning new software applications.
Demonstrates willingness to learn new skills such as programming (VBA, Macros, Python) and data management
Demonstrates strong time management and prioritization skills; extremely well organized.
Self-motivated, ability to readily adapt to a rapidly changing business and technology environment.
