THE TEAM : Community Practice, Quality and Integration Community Practice and Quality

The Community Practice and Quality (CPQ) team provides staff support to the General Practice Services Committee (GPSC) (a partnership between Doctors of BC and the provincial government) and the Committee’s programs and initiatives targeted to transforming the primary care system.

Under the direction of the GPSC, the CPQ team supports and empowers family doctors and primary care teams to provide the best patient care possible through practice improvement and adopting the attributes of the patient medical home model of care.

Within CPQ team, three sub-teams’ exist to support these initiatives toward primary care transformation the Practice Support Program (PSP) sub-

team provides provincial strategic and operational supports for the regional PSP teams; the Community Practice Design (CPD) sub-

  • team supports the Family Practice Incentives Program, including billing support and working with the GPSC Incentives Working Group on reviewing and redesigning the incentives to support Patient Medical Home (PMH) and Primary Care Network (PCN);
  • lastly, the Evaluation sub-team supports the evaluation and measurement of the PMH as family doctors across BC begin to adopt this model of patient care.

    THE JOB : Project Coordinator, Education and Development

    Reporting to the Manager, Community Quality and Implementation (CQI), the Project Coordinator will support the ongoing design, provision, and evaluation of training for practice support field staff (including the Practice Support Program regional teams, Panel Assistants, and PSP Peer Mentors, aka the Practice Support Network).

    With the recent approval by GPSC of the PSP shift toward a Practice Facilitation approach, ensuring PSP field staff are appropriately trained in both required core competencies and program-

    specific areas is critical to ensuring a value-add experience with PSP services by physicians across the province. Additionally, in order to ensure physician and MOA peer mentors engaged with PSP are appropriately supported to deliver PSP services within the larger GPSC program portfolio, a consistent and provincial approach to training and upskilling existing field staff is required and the Project Coordinator will be responsible for the ongoing refinement of the PSP Practice Support Network Education and Development Strategy.

    Lastly, new field staff (providing enhanced practice supports for PMH / PCN activities as dictated by GPSC) will also require ongoing training to ensure they’re supporting family practices at the highest standard.


  • Working closely with the Manager, CQI, and the Project Coordinator, Practice Support Network Development and Project Coordinator, Content Development and Maintenance support development and implementation of the PSP Education and Development Strategy in alignment with the PSP Competency Framework
  • Develop, maintain, deliver and monitor a provincial orientation process for new regional PSP team members and enhanced practice support field staff
  • Conduct training and upskilling needs assessment and identify skills or knowledge gaps that need to be addressed in alignment with the PSP Practice Facilitation Framework
  • Working closely with the regional PSP team leads as well as the various clinical and practice content development advisory committees, coordinate provision of training and upskilling opportunities in alignment with assessed needs according to the PSP Competency Framework
  • Coordinate with the regional PSP teams to report on training metrics and status to CPQ and regional PSP leadership
  • Gather feedback on training offerings and evolve training content to ensure needs are being met
  • Working with key members of the CPQ (specifically the Project Coordinator, Practice Support Network Development and Project Coordinator, Content Development and Maintenance and others as appropriate) team : develop training materials specific to delivery of PSP content (e.
  • g. PSP’s clinical and practice management learning opportunities, the Phases of Panel Management, Patient Experience Tool, etc.

    for both regional PSP team members and PSP peer mentors, and maintain these on the PSP Exchange,support training of enhanced practice supports field staff (i.

    e. Panel Assistants), anddesign and implement an education and development strategy focused on PSP physician and MOA peer mentors within the larger GPSC Peer Leader Community

  • Working with Project Coordinator, Practice Support Network Development, support the development of a learning and knowledge exchange strategy for the regional PSP teams and Peer Mentors via the PSP Exchange communication platform including the development of an internal learning and mentoring network for new and experienced PSP regional team members.

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a related field and 5 years of recent related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience
  • Experience working in the BC health care system or general knowledge of the BC health care system is preferred
  • Experience in adult education curriculum design and development and multi-modal delivery (e.g. in-person, online, blended)
  • Understanding of quality improvement methodology and experience with the application of its principles
  • Understanding of change management methodologies an asset
  • Demonstrated experience working in dynamic, fast-paced environments
  • Superior interpersonal, oral and written communication and relationship management skills with exceptional attention to detail and organizational expertise
  • Excellent skills in critical thinking and analysis, meeting facilitation, verbal and written communications, and interpersonal interactions
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to apply problem solving skills with a high degree of tact and diplomacy
  • Excellent writing skills and proven ability to develop clear, concise and comprehensive written reports and other documents
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and as a member of the team
