As a Quality Assurance Lead, this role will design and support the full testing life cycle including requirements validation, test planning, test case identification / development, development of test automation frameworks, functional testing, performance / load testing, stress testing, platform testing, and user acceptance testing for Retalon’s various clients.

The incumbent must effectively manage the role of Process Owner and QA Analyst, and is responsible for assuring that all products are defect free and compliant with technical specifications, working with a diverse application suite including : relational database (e.

g. Microsoft SQL Server), Java-based application server, running in Servlet container (e.g. Tomcat), and thin Windows native client (VB.NET).


  • Ensures delivery against QA department goals and objectives, i.e. meeting commitments and coordinating overall quality assurance schedule.
  • Assists in the development of a QA strategy and roadmap to meet organizational needs. Develop metrics and reporting to track progress.
  • Develop and manage quality assurance metrics for performance improvement of all teams.
  • Hands-on QA analysis, with the goal of understanding our application in detail
  • Work towards automating QA regression tests
  • Implements ongoing quality improvement processes working with interdepartmental teams.
  • Collaborate with analysts, designers, and system owners in the testing of new software programs and applications.
  • Ensure that testing activities will allow applications to meet business requirements and systems goals, fulfill end-user requirements, and identify and resolve systems issues.
  • Manages and responds to Software Quality Assurance issues with related groups such as Development, Database, Integration, and Customer Support.
  • Evaluate, plan, design, develop, and deploy testing techniques for new applications, products, and / or enhancements to existing applications throughout their development / product lifecycles.
  • Create and execute test scripts, cases, and scenarios that will determine optimal system performance according to specifications.
  • Conduct all types of application testing as needed, such as system, unit, regression, load, and acceptance testing methods.
  • Analyze formal test results in order to discover and resolve defects, bugs, errors, configuration issues, and interoperability flaws.
  • Produce reports and documentation for all testing efforts, results, activities, data, logging, and tracking.
  • Communicate test progress, test results, and other relevant information to project stakeholders and management.
  • Cultivate and disseminate knowledge of application-testing best practices.
  • Lead and mentor QA team members, as well as manage outside contract testers.

  • Undergraduate degree in Computer Science, Engineering or related discipline
  • Post-secondary education in Mathematics or Statistics is an asset
  • Min 5 years in Quality Assurance, with at least 2 years in a leadership capacity, preferably within the Retail Analytics industry
  • Proven experience in overseeing the design, development, and implementation of software testing solutions.
  • Strong knowledge of system testing and software quality assurance best practices and methodologies.
  • Outstanding organizational skills

  • Experience with supply chain environment is an asset
