What will you do?
The Application Scientist - Canada Cannabis Testing position will help shape and execute a series of method development projects across collaborator labs and multiple Thermo Fisher Scientific sites in Canada for the purposes of optimizing cannabis safety testing and analysis workflows across a variety of techniques and platforms.
Projects will be prioritized based on key data needs with an aggressive publishing schedule. The Scientist - Canada Cannabis Testing is responsible for meeting critical deadlines for program deliverables.
Importantly this role entails interacting with a network of scientific collaborators to drive projects on-time and on-budget.
The ideal candidate will be well versed at publishing a pipeline of application notes and proof statements, including technical presentations and peer review media.
This role demands a hands-on expert in a broad range of analytical techniques preferably with a background in compliance testing.
Analytical lab experience involving cannabis including multi-residue analysis methods and non-targeted screening is a plus along with potency and terpenes profiling.
With concurrent projects to simultaneously manage across various collaborator labs, this role requires an individual who can effectively manage multiple relationships with outside collaborators.
The Scientist - Canada Cannabis Testing will also spearhead efforts to secure MOUs and agreements for proposed projects.
This includes developing business cases, proposals, and presentations to drive agreements and action.
How would you get there?
The ideal candidate will possess a background spanning 1) LCMS, 2) GCMS, 3) ICP-MS, 4) sample prep and 5) related software operation.
Given the broad range of techniques and testing involved, the role requires significant experience with Mass Spec Triple Quad and MS / MS techniques coupled with chromatography, in addition to some ICP-
MS experience or exposure in heavy metals analysis. At a minimum the position demands solid experience in small molecule analysis involving LCMS + GCMS
Qualifications (Education, Experience and Key Competencies) :
Ph.D. degree is preferred. Marketing education or experience highly desirable.
