As the Talent Acquisition Specialist for BCAA you are responsible for providing professional services in the areas of recruitment, selection and compensation support to BCAA clients and creating an extraordinary candidate journey, to deliver the right talent, at the place, at the right time.

  • The position is responsible for providing consultative and expert guidance for talent acquisition to all levels of management and staff as well as to;
  • external agency partners, post-secondary institutions, diversity and inclusion partners and external and internal candidates.

    Client Support

    In alignment with BCAA’s corporate strategy and recruitment strategy, the Talent Acquisition Specialist is responsible for attracting and recruiting high-performing, high potential candidates for management and non-management positions.

    Partners with HR, Managers and Directors to deliver the right talent at the right time.

    Anticipates hiring needs across BCAA and utilizes appropriate resources to meet hiring needs to fulfil BCAA’s corporate strategic objectives.

    Contributes to developing tactical talent sourcing plans with Hiring Managers to determine critical capabilities to hire the best person for the role.

    that meets the needs of current and future roles, ensuring quality, cost effectiveness and efficient time to hire.

    Engages and builds partnerships with post-secondary, best in-class agency and talent souring vendors.

    Advises managers of new required talent attraction strategies and initiatives, including in local, national and global markets.

    Sets annual BCAA networking and recruitment career fair plan through external agency, post-secondary and diversity and inclusion partnerships.

    Implements on annual recruitment marketing strategy including writing social media posts, social media job ads and editing recruitment publication stories and videos.

    Is an IT Recruiter and builds strong candidate pipeline and network to attract top IT talent to deliver on high profile, high impact projects to meet BCAA’s corporate strategies and long-term growth.

    Act as BCAA Brand Ambassador to maintain top employer brand.

    Advises and provides counselling to managers on recruitment best practices, candidate recommendations and collaborates on final selection process.

    Resolves problems and provides guidance to managers on recruitment related matters concerning internal and external candidates.

    Provides guidance and works in partnership with People Services regarding recruitment processes and selections.

    Acts as advisor and subject matter expert to hiring managers and HR Advisors during all stages of the recruitment process

    Provides education and training to managers about recruitment best practices from manager onboarding, FTE budgeting through to candidate assessment, recruitment and selection and providing timely candidate feedback.


    Manages multiple high volume, high profile recruitment projects at the same time.

    Owns the day to day recruitment and maintains the relationships with HR Advisors and Hiring Managers; oversees the recruiting process from job posting through to the signing of the offer.

    Generates and maintain a strong candidate pipeline through creative resourcing and effective utilization of the internal and external tracking systems

    Manages Hiring Managers’ expectations regarding recruitment timelines advising on the current market trends, while maintaining exceptional service levels.

    Responsible for coordinating, and tracking and promoting employee referral program

    Maintains up-to-date knowledge of recruiting issues and trends, labour laws and legislative initiatives that have short and long-term implications on the profitability of the business

    Develops, track and analyze all recruiting programs to optimize ROI

    Assists with additional HR related tasks and projects as needed

    Creates recruitment tools kits and interview guides to meet the current needs of the BCAA and the market

    Is the candidate experience architect for BCAA throughout the candidate journey through all channels including Campus Recruiting, Employer Branding, Sourcing and Selection activities.

    Guides People Services on recruitment related matters


    Maintains regular reports and metrics on key recruitment performance indicators.

    Leverages metrics data to propose new recruitment programs and initiatives.

    Maintains and reports on recruitment metrics for CPO and CFO

    Education :

    Post-secondary degree preferably in HR Management, Business or Marketing

    Consideration given to those with College degree combined with experience

    Experience :

    Minimum of 5 years including 3 years of full cycle in-house recruitment experience in variety of roles and disciplines

    Minimum 2 years experience working with leadership including senior level leadership

    Proven ability to manage multiple high volume, high profile recruitment projects at the same time

    Proven business acumen in translating business strategies into recruitment and retention solutions

    Demonstrated expertise in candidate management and client relationship management

    Experience negotiating with third party suppliers, i.e. recruiting agencies, Request for Information (RFIs), Request for Proposals (RFPs)

    Proven ability to build and maintain a network of professional internal and external relationships over an extended period of time

    Leadership :

    Proven ability to appropriately influence Hiring Managers in making sound hiring decisions

    Demonstrated ability to work with strong team and lead when required

    Technical :

    Advanced skills in HR Management Systems, Applicant Tracking Systems and MS Office

    Demonstrated strong project management and organizational skills

    Ability to solve problems independently and deliver results in a fast-paced environment

    Proven ability to prioritize

    Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

    Ability to be innovative, creative, proactive, well organized and able to multi-task

    Excellent analytical and negotiation skills

    Tact and diplomacy in managing confidential and sensitive employee files and data.

    Proven initiative coupled with good analytical skills
