What are the ongoing responsibilities of a Senior Network Engineer?
As the Senior Network Engineer, you will be a member of an experienced Network Engineer team. You will be assigned to lead on enterprise and / or strategic technology projects or issues and will collaborate across our infrastructure architects, and business partners.
If you have a creative out of the box thinker in design or problem solving without compromising guidelines you will successful in this role.
The responsibilities include preparing business and technical requirements, solution design, build, test and implementation data center, local network, wireless network, automation, and process improvements.
Capacity and Performance Analysis : Performs performance trend analysis for planning of infrastructure capacity and improvements - Makes recommendations to operational areas or escalate to more Sr.
Engineers for systemic analysis for improvement of infrastructure to meet current and future needs (Required) - develop voice and data network infrastructure key performance indicator
Documentation / Policies : Develops, reviews and tests technical documentation to ensure accuracy (e.g., for infrastructure solutions and engineering support) - Participates in development of process improvements and in establishing and documenting policies (Required)
System Design / Infrastructure Solutions : Participates in the development of technology roadmaps and contributes to the development of new ideas - Participates in detailed design, installation, configuration, implementation and modification of IT Infrastructure solutions to meet business needs and may take a lead role where appropriate (Required)
Incident Prevention and Escalation Response : Analyzes recurring incidents and proposes systemic resolution of moderate to complex problems - Works with vendors on root cause analysis / determination and issue resolution - Leads the implementation of low to moderately complex issue resolution - Responds and resolves moderate to complex incidents escalated from Operations (Tier 2) Engineers for resolution - Escalates incidents affecting business and / or infrastructure services to higher level engineers if unable to resolve within designated times based on business impact. Strategy : Remains abreast of emerging technical issues affecting the telecommunications infrastructure environment currently employed by company - Keeps colleagues and managers abreast of current and future I.
T. development activities - Work with team leaders to make recommendations relating to practice methodologies and tools.
Coaching : Leads and / or provides expertise to functional project teams - May coach and provide guidance to junior employees
What ideal qualifications, skills & experience would help someone to be successful? Minimum Qualifications :
Five years practical work experience in the design,deployment and support of large network & data and voice infrastructureenvironments.
Voice and Data Network technical area certifications,preferably CISCO
Practical work experience in the deployment and support ofnetwork solutions for medium to large size distributed enterprisesutilizing the following technologies and standards :
Switching Architectures Cisco Nexus OS and Catalyst IOSCisco Routers and ASA, Wireless MPLS and SD WAN Routing Protocols : BGP, EIGRP, and OSPFLoad Balancers
Cisco CUCM (Call Manager), SME, CUC voice platforms(Version 11.5 or higher)
Cisco Voice Gateways(SIP, MGCP)
Experience with Riverbed Steelhead Wan Optimizationappliances and / or Cisco Voice Gateways & VOIP
Experience with call routing and system integration onCisco Communications Manager and Genesys Contact Center platforms would bedesirable
