    Levitt-Safety is currently recruiting an experienced Vehicle Fire Suppression Technician to provide the highest level of quality service to our customers in the repair and maintenance of Vehicle Fire Suppression Systems, and other fire protection services.

    This is a camp based position that will be working remotely at an open pit mine site. This position is based on a compressed work week shift of 12hrs daily-14 days on 14 days off.

    As a fully trained VFSS technician you must be able to work independently with minimal supervision.

    DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Inspection, Repair, and Maintenance of Vehicle Fire Suppression Systems and other Fire & Life Safety Services & Equipment
  • Maintain on site warehouse inventory and all required tools
  • Complete all applicable H&S Paperwork associated with company H&S policies and ISO procedures. Be an ongoing contributor to the development of JHA’s (Job Hazard Assessments) and Safe Work Practices relevant to the position
  • Accurate and timely completion of service paperwork to facilitate prompt billing, certification(s) of equipment, expenses & other required paperwork
  • Perform after hours and on call duties as required
  • Other duties as assigned
  • QUALIFICATIONS

  • Demonstrated experience with Vehicle Fire Suppression systems
  • Post-secondary training in a mechanical related field, or equivalent experience
  • Mechanical Aptitude with Basic Electrical Knowledge
  • Prior experience providing on site mobile customer service
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision
  • Comfortable using technology such as iPads, cell phones and laptops
  • Valid driver’s license with clean drivers abstract
  • Must successfully pass Pre-Employment Drug & Alcohol Testing and Pre-Access testing as required
  • Previous training in systems Kidde and / or Ansul suppression systems is an asset
  • Physical requirements include :

  • Working in restricted work spaces and from ladders and walkways on large equipment and working on equipment in underground mines as required
  • Good hand / eye coordination & manual dexterity
  • Prolonged sitting in vehicles, and driving times
  • Lift and carry up to 50lbs. unassisted
  • Extensive walking will be required at times, in addition to working in areas of extreme heat and cold
  • The incumbent will regularly work in dusty, dirty environments
  • Must be able to work in extreme temperatures hot / cold
  • There may also be excessive noise from heavy machinery both mobile and stationary on site
  • Ability to wear a respirator or be on supplied air
