    Who’ll You Be Joining :

    Our hive headquartered in Toronto is looking for a new Senior Engineering Manager, Mobile Platform to join our software engineering organization.

    This team is responsible for shared customer experiences and technical capabilities in our native mobile apps. Our mobile apps are critical to enable ecobee to deliver on our promise of a helpful home where the whole is more than the sum of its parts.

    Today, the Mobile Platform team is working on improving customer engagement with feature discovery and increasing developer productivity and consistency across the app with a revised design components library.

    The team is always looking for ways to improve and manage app quality and delivery, while collaborating with other teams working on the shared mobile codebase to evolve our mobile engineering practices.

    You will also work with the product and marketing teams, hear client feedback firsthand and collaborate with the Product Manager to improve the product vision and roadmap.

    The Mobile Platform team and the overall software engineering organization are highly data driven and focused on continuous improvement of our culture and processes.

    How You’ll Make an Impact :

  • Build the customer experience of products used by over a million people
  • Manage the growth and development of a team of engineers, focusing on coaching, mentoring, motivation, and technical guidance, using tools such as 1 : 1s, skills matrices, 360’s, and performance reviews
  • Hire empathetic, driven, and curious ecopeeps to build a great team, stewarding their onboarding experience to help them quickly become happy and effective contributors
  • Manage and improve mobile development practices; e.g., coding standards, peer review process, testing, observability, launch
  • Manage delivery of your team, working to estimate, unblock and effectively direct our efforts to help accomplish our team objectives
  • Contribute to our overall technical vision and strategy

    All future work location decisions are jointly made between you, your Manager, and HR as not all jobs are able to offer all options.

    How does this affect hiring and onboarding? Our interview and onboarding process has remained relatively the same, except those interviews and on boarding sessions are conducted through video.

    Until at least January, new employees will be starting remotely, and all necessary equipment will be shipped to them.
