We currently have a Regular Full-Time opportunity for a Business Intelligence (BI) Consultant in the Decision Support Department at our Bayview Campus.

Summary Of Duties :

Analyze, interpret, consult, present and make recommendations on information to support strategic planning, program optimization, quality initiatives, budgeting and restructuring. Tasks include :

  • Investigate and profile new data sources, create data specification documentation and support the data acquisition process
  • Design efficient BI solutions that meet approved requirements and align with the IT and Data strategy
  • Create and maintain databases, tables, stored procedures, indexes, database check constraints, and business rules using advanced knowledge of T-SQL
  • Document designs and architect data maps, develop data quality components and establish and / or conduct unit tests
  • Ensure that the data architecture is scalable and maintainable
  • Collaborate with Decision Support consultants and analysts to integrate analytical output in the design and implementation of Business Intelligence solutions that will be disseminated throughout the organization
  • Prepare automated reports for operational and managerial considerations
  • Liaise with clients both within Decision Support and across hospital departments with regard to resolution of data quality and reporting issues
  • Support opportunities to apply advanced analytics techniques (e.g. Simulations, data modeling, machine learning, predictive and prescriptive analytics)
  • Collaborate to evaluate new technologies as part of modernizing the Data Warehousing platform
  • Provide analytical insight into clinical activity to Senior team, Programs, Medical staff and other internal stakeholders.
  • Qualifications / Skills :

  • Baccalaureate degree in Computer Science, Health Informatics, Engineering, Applied Math, Statistics, or other quantitative discipline required, Master’s degree an asset
  • Three years’ experience in a health care setting
  • Solid understanding of the data warehousing end-to-end development life cycle
  • Proficient with SQL Queries and solid understanding of relational databases, Data Warehouse concepts, ETL strategies and best practices
  • Knowledge of competitive Business Intelligence packages (e.g. MS Power BI) and SharePoint an asset
  • Experience in the use of statistical or financial information in a health care environment
  • Knowledge of other programming languages (e.g. R, SPSS, SAS, Python)
  • Knowledge of key administrative data including DAD, NACRS, OMHRS, CCRS and NRS and associated case mix methodologies
  • Exceptional communication, interpersonal and analytical skills
  • Advanced problem-solving, and project management skills
  • Able to work with minimal supervision, manage own time, and prioritize projects
  • Ability to work co-operatively with all levels of hospital staff and physicians
