Kativik Ilisarniliriniq (KI) is a school board offering educational services in the 14 communities of Nunavik.
The Coordinator of Compassionate Schools is responsible for the coordination, supervision, evaluation, research, and development of the school board’s goal to become trauma-informed in its practices and organization as part of a holistic education system.
FUNCTION & DUTIES :
Under the supervision of the Director of Complementary and Compassionate Services, the Coordinator must, in particular :
Develop the implementation process of trauma-informed practices into the Kativik Ilisarniliriniq staff and education system;
Develop the Positive Behavioral Interventions and Support (PBIS) framework in all schools;
Integrate the Inuit Culture and Values into the PBIS framework in all schools;
Organizing and providing training and support to Education Consultant, schools, and School Board personnel;
Supervising Education Consultant in their professional development and support to schools;
Work in collaboration with other departments;
Participation in preparing the staffing plan, and selecting staff;
Any other related tasks as determined by his / her supervisor.
An undergraduate degree in a relevant field certifying a minimum three-year university program or hold a senior or manager position for which an undergraduate degree is required under the minimum qualifications;
Teaching Certification valid in Québec;
Five (5) years of relevant experience.
The Board may, at its discretion, waive any or all of the afore-mentioned qualification requirements if it finds a suitable candidate who is a beneficiary of the James Bay and Northern Québec Agreement and who accepts, as a condition of employment, to follow a training plan determined by the Board.
Fluency in two of the three official languages of the school board (Inuktitut, English, and French);
Knowledge of Inuit culture;
Must be able to travel throughout Nunavik, when required;
Excellent proven classroom management skills, PBIS program, and reflective teaching practices;
Autonomous, open-minded, prioritizes the full participation of Inuit staff members in directing change;
Culturally aware and collaborative decision-maker;
Good communication skills.
CLASSIFICATION / SALARY / BENEFITS :
Class 00-07* as per the working conditions of KI’s managers : from $79,447 à $105,927 annually depending on qualifications and experience.
