Position Overview :
As the Construction Manager for Retail, you play a key role within the retail team with the specific mandate to manage the growth, scaling and execution of the global retail stores from a design, build and launch perspective.
In addition to a wholesale Shop-in-Shop model, your role is to drive speed to market, manage the budget / value engineering while ensuring a quality execution.
Our retail stores are high quality touch points for the brand.
Key Responsibilities :
Manages day to day duties for new and rebuild store projects including reporting on estimating, scheduling, RFis, CCo and all other administration related items.
Manages layout and store design process internally and with architects to ensure company guidelines and opening dates comply.
Co-ordinates sch-c work with GCs and LL and signs off on possession walkthroughs.
Find cost efficiencies through GC and Architect partners as well as direct sourcing and procurement.
Drive efficiency in cross functional buy in and time-line approvals including driving the work back schedule for each project.
Manage capex spend for each fiscal year by project and as whole, providing weekly updates on status.
Manage external partners including new tenders and RFPs according to company guidelines.
Manage internal communication and scheduling across marketing, finance, IT, VM and retail.
Coordinate roll-out schedules with Retail to include designated times for employee on-boarding and pre-store opening training.
Maintain financial and operational requirements simultaneously.
Reduce costs by reducing dependence on external construction management.
Own the pre-build and pre-open operating requirements such as permitting timelines and site inspections up to close out.
Documentation & Drawings :
Co-ordinate all information and plans with store design.
Review all Architectural and MEP drawings for discrepancies.
Co-ordinate all purchase order requests with purchasing and provide construction delivery schedules.
Co-ordinate all owner furnished items with GC schedule.
Manage all site instructions, change orders, invoices and RFPs.
Collect all project close out documentation for filing.
Provide deficiency list and manage execution of all deficiencies within 30 days of opening.
Experience, Education and Designations :
A post-secondary degree in related field preferred and or site experience in high end retail projects.
North American retail and retail operations experience.
Design and Build experience in a high-end retail environment
International markets considered an asset
Experience working with all levels of management both internally and externally
Knowledge, Skills and Attributes :
MS Project, word, excel
Auto cad / dwg
Ability to read construction drawings, shop drawings and basic understanding of mechanical and electrical drawings an asset
Disciplined and detail oriented
Highly organized with strong time management skills
Ability to multi-task and establish priorities
High flexibility and experience with both mature and growing companies
Ability to work cross functionally and build lasting relationships
Self-starter and comfortable leader.
Working Conditions :
30-40% Travel required
