The Controller is primarily responsible for managerial oversight of site finance teams with business support to Site Plant Manager and as a liaison to Corporate Finance / FP&A for all finance-related matters.
Primary responsibilities are to :
Provide leadership and direction to site accounting / finance team and serve as the lead finance partner on the Toronto Site Leadership Team for all operational finance related matters.
For the Toronto site specifically : Develop and demonstrate technical expertise in accounting, reporting and business matters and practices specific to those operations / sites.
Support the eventual software integration to Oracle from Sage / MiSys which would include working with Corporate IT and local Industrial Engineer to set up BOMS and Routers for all existing active partsWork with Finance in Corporate and FP&A to initiate monthly reporting including Hyperion TB submission, Blackline reconciliations, BPC roll-out, and tasks as well as other activities.
Review monthly financial results and related disclosure schedules with group controller and local management.Assist Corporate Accounting in resolving financial questions or issues related to the global consolidation.
Interact with external auditors during quarterly reviews and annual audit field work and participate in closing meetings.
Monitor the design and effectiveness and test local internal controls and notify Corporate Finance of any changes in internal controls.
Participate in integration activities and on transition teams, manage all aspects of finance-related transition matters.
Standard costing reviews, testing, creation and final determination
Co-ordinate, review and assist in Nantong financial reporting up through Hyperion and Blackline.
Partner with OPS FP&A on Budgeting / Forecasting, and ad-hoc analytics when needed
Prepare various financial analyses and present such information to site leadership team and occasionally to executive management.
Assist tax department in tax accounting, planning and compliance matters.
Assist in HR and payroll related issues and new employee introduction to policies and benefits
Perform other duties as assigned.
Education : An undergraduate degree in accounting is required, MBA is a plus.
Certifications : CPA is preferred, but not required.
Experience : Minimum of 10+ years’ experience in controlling or financial reporting positions, preferably at publicly traded companies.
Demonstrated management of teams ranging from +2 employees.Effective planning, communication and writing skills also required.
The ability to multi-task in a fast-paced accounting and finance environment and perform functions such as the creation and maintenance of complex spreadsheets, account analysis and reconciliation.
