Reporting to the Metal Shop Manager, the Welder is responsible for the welding of steel, aluminum and stainless steel parts using a MIG and / or TIG process.
Main Duties :
Conduct safety checks on equipment and daily maintenance in compliance with safety standards
Read and interpret blueprints and drawings to determine specific welding requirements
Set up welding machines based on job requirements
MIG and TIG weld steel, aluminum and stainless steel components based on specifications
Create, follow and maintain Welding Procedure Specifications
De-bur and grind metal as necessary to achieve proper surface texture
Identify machine issues that may affect material integrity
Read work orders and tag or product as required
Work in a fast paced environment with fast changing priorities
Work with team members to maximize productivity and efficiency
Keep all work areas clean and organized
Work in compliance with all ISO and OHSA and company standards, following all safety protocols
Perform other duties as assigned or required
Employment Requirements :
Minimum 2 years’ experience operating as a commercial welder
Certificate or Diploma in welding techniques or technician or equivalent experience
Experience with MIG and TIG welding
Knowledge of raw materials, production processes and material properties
Ability to read BOM listing and technical drawings
Proven measurement and mathematical skills including tape measures, angle gauges and calipers
Excellent attention to detail
Self-starter with the ability to work independently
Understanding of metal and material tolerances
Capable of standing and walking for extended periods of time
Capable of lifting up to 50 pounds
