Position : Engineer

Reports to : Managing Director

Compensation : Very competitive

Department : Engineering

Hours of Work : 7 AM 4 PM; some O / T and flexibility re start time may be required


Pre-requisite Qualifications (knowledge, skills, attributes, accreditations, training experience) :

  • Fluent oral and written English
  • Advanced mathematical and desktop computer skills
  • Demonstrable abilities to consult and negotiate with various business areas and partners
  • Knowledge of computer aided software (e.g., Auto CAD, Autodesk Inventor, etc.) and familiarity with CAR, FAA, TCCA practices and Component Maintenance Manuals
  • Engineering degree and P.Eng.
  • Familiarity with electrical principles and systems
  • Familiarity with process improvement methodologies and tool design
  • Sound judgement, discretion and hands on problem solving skills
  • Job Summary (purpose of job, what is done, how) :

    The Engineer is responsible for reverse engineering and developing master rewind data reports for various aircraft components.

    He / she is also responsible for preparing documentation for Transport Canada approval.

    The Engineer conducts material analysis to determine cost-effective material choices. He liaises with subcontractors re service processes and with customers regarding any warranty issues.

    He is responsible for process optimization, including reducing lead times, increasing efficiency, conducting audits when required, shop floor trouble shooting, report analysis and recommendations for innovation.

    Essential Duties & Responsibilities :

  • Analyzing customer engineering drawings for quoting purposes
  • Developing engineering drawings for various aircraft component fixtures and tooling
  • Designing and developing new tooling for production and assembly processes
  • Identifying correct materials and coatings for jobs
  • Developing repair procedures and process sheets for new processes (restacking, braising, welding, soldering, painting, etc.)
  • Conducting monthly TCCA audits when required
  • Providing analysis and solutions for MRB on warranty issues
  • Consulting with Production on engineering and design issues
  • Analyzing reports; identifying opportunities for improvement and innovation
  • Responsible for maintaining a clean and well organized work station / area
  • Responsible for working in a safe and healthy manner, including reporting any potential / hazards, and treating coworkers professionally and with respect
  • Other duties as assigned from time to time by the Managing Director
  • Standards of Performance (no more than 7 items; identify specifically measurable targets, if possible) :

  • Contribution to Company profitability via effective analysis and recommendations re : quoting process, materials selection, effective trouble shooting, process improvements
  • Accurate, thorough and timely completion of engineering drawings and manual updates
  • Accurate, thorough and timely completion of audits when required
  • Effective design of new tooling and processes, as required
  • Effective communication with management and various departments to ensure implementation of organizational improvement and innovation
