The Data & Analytics team at Loblaw is hiring a QA Data Engineering Specialist with experience in building automation scripts and validating cloud-based modern data platforms.

Reporting to the Senior Manager Quality Assurance, the candidate will be responsible for building test automation suite for our Data Analytics, BI and ML / AI capabilities.

The successful candidate will be passionate about data and have a strong foundation of data management concepts and quality assurance best practices.

What You'll Do :

  • Develop automated scripts to validate end-to-end processes supporting data ingestion, data transformations, data wrangling, data cleansing and data delivery.
  • Build, execute and maintain test automation scripts for data pipelines using IntelliJ, Java and Cucumber.
  • Collaborate with the Scrum team to plan milestones, successfully validate software delivery, and escalate issues as needed
  • Develop and design efficient automated programs by following software development and quality assurance best practices
  • Perform different types of testing on data platform, including unit testing, component testing, integration testing, end-to-end testing and regression testing
  • Gather specifications and requirements on source systems to create test requirements and test data
  • Create and maintain software and quality assurance documentation on Jira
  • Assist with data-related technical challenges and perform root-cause analysis to answer specific business questions and recommend and implementing ways to improve data reliability, efficiency and quality.
  • Contributes to the quality assurance and documentation of data management standards framework.
  • What You'll Bring :

  • Major in Computer Science, Mathematics, Engineering or related field.
  • 1-3 years of software programming experience using Java, Python and Cucumber.
  • 1+ years of experience working with Cloud data platforms technologies : Google Cloud Platform (Dataflow, Big Query, Apache Beam, Apache Airflow).
  • 1-3 years of experience with relational databases (Teradata, Oracle, SQL Server)
  • Advanced knowledge of SQL queries
  • Familiar with Jira and Agile methodology.
  • Experience using Jenkins for CI / CD pipelines.
  • Superb analytical and conceptual thinking skills; to not only manipulate but also derive meaningful interpretations from data
  • Ability to take initiative, multi-task and work in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to work independently
  • Capability to liaise with all levels across the enterprise on projects and ad-hoc requests
  • Strong detail orientation is essential in this role
