The Administrative Support Clerk - Tobacco provides administrative support to the multi-site operations of the Tobacco Control Program by performing receptionist duties, screening calls for Program staff, maintaining database and inputting confidential health inspection information and compiling statistical data;
and performs a variety of general clerical duties, such as drafting and typing a variety of documents and correspondence, communicating with Ministry of Health and Crown Counsel offices.
Education, Training And Experience
High school graduation plus a Certificate in Office Administration. Three (3) years' recent related experience; or An equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
Knowledge of applicable legislation, such as the Tobacco Act and the Tobacco Control Act.Valid BC Drivers License.
Skills And Abilities
Keyboard at 55 wpm.
Apply knowledge of office practices and procedures.
Utilize word processing, spreadsheets, database applications and e-mail.
Prepare, maintain and control a variety of office records, documents, confidential correspondence files and related data with a high degree of accuracy and proficiency.
Communicate, orally and in writing, including a thorough knowledge of business English, spelling and punctuation.
Foster and maintain excellent customer / client relations.
Act with tact, confidentiality and discretion.
Interpret policies and procedures.
Organize workload and deal with many tasks simultaneously.
Operate standard office equipment.
Physically carry out the duties of the position.
