The Shipping Coordinator oversees all processes and procedures in the shipping department and ensures shipments leave our facility in a timely fashion to reach the destination on time.
The incumbent works closely with other departments within the DC as well as front office staff to ensure orders are processed and targets are met.
The Shipping Coordinator directs a team of wave planners that support the DC with planning daily orders to be processed as well as a group of shipping clerks that manage the outbound shipments.
Other duties include claims processing, transportation and testing of new TPS / WMS projects to meet our customer requirements.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES :
Supervises employees engaged in verifying and keeping records on outgoing shipments and in preparing items for shipment.
Oversees outgoing shipping activities to ensure accuracy, completeness, and condition of shipments.
Calculates estimated costs associated with the shipping / delivery function and recommends appropriate alternatives.
Prepares daily management reports and prepares other standard reports as needed.
Inspects material handling equipment for defects and notifies maintenance personnel or contacts outside service facility for repair.
Compiles records of unfilled orders.
Posts weight and shipping charges. Prepares bills of lading.
Investigate and validate all overages / shortages and damages sent by carriers and customer service
Provides direction, training, scheduling, and guidance to shipping personnel.
Plans, organizes and supervises the delivery function of the department ensuring timely and efficient delivery of high quality products.
Fosters positive working relationships. Responds proactively to performance concerns, discipline, employee complaints and other employee relations matters.
Maintain relationships with all carriers and provide feedback on service and requirements
Studies shipping notices, bills of lading, invoices, orders, and other records to determine shipping priorities, work assignments, and shipping methods required to meet shipping and receiving schedules, utilizing knowledge of shipping procedures, routes, and rates.
Determines space requirements and position of shipment in boxcars and trucks and lays out position of shipment.
Manage all special accounts
Inspects loading operations to ensure compliance with shipping specifications. Seals loaded boxcars and truck doors.
Correspond with North American Transportation Team regarding all Canadian Shipping related issues and inquiries

SELECTION STANDARDS REQUIRED :
Previous supervisory experience in a similar environment is an asset
Strong computer skills in Excel and Outlook applications
Strong communication and technical skills
Knowledgeable on all health and safety legislation and on safe working procedures
Knowledge of Warehouse Management Systems, SAP
