Description & Details

The stories of our community have never been more important or relevant as they are today. As CNIB goes through some exciting changes, you will be part of movement to motivate and educate Canadians on the abilities and experiences of people who are blind or partially sighted.

This will be done by attending events out in the community events as schools, health fairs, seniors' homes and fundraising events.

GTA Ambassador

Coordinator, Advocacy and Community Engagement (GTA)

Raise awareness and change perceptions through speaking about your experience of sight loss (or other personal connection) and inform others about the programs and services of CNIB and the positive impact it has made.

As we are committed to provide ongoing training to our ambassadors, we expect you to join us for a minimum of six months.

This role is flexible and 'set your own schedule' for when event opportunities arise.

As a CNIB Volunteer you are agreeing to CNIB’s Volunteer Code of Conduct, including policies and procedures. When acting as an official representative of CNIB, you are agreeing to keep to CNIB's messaging and not express personal opinions that are in conflict with CNIB's mission and values.

You may or may not be asked to undergo a police check.

After completing our short ambassador questionnaire, we will contact you for a telephone discussion to talk more about the role, your interests and skills.

After the telephone discussion, we encourage you to attend an in-person orientation at one of our GTA offices. In addition, we ask you to attend a mandatory in-

person training on public speaking skills and how to share your story.

The supervisor for this role is available for ongoing support.

  • We look forward to hearing from you. If you are interested or have any questions please contact Filomena DiRuscio at Filomena.
