Position Overview :

Reporting to the Manger, Real Estate & Finance, the successful candidate will :

Support the Real Estate & Lease Administration team which is accountable for a national portfolio of approximately 500 locations.

This team is responsible for managing our strategic retail real estate requirements in various enclosed malls, power centers and street front locations.

As a self-starter with strong negotiating and decision-making skills you will work with various landlords and leasing managers to drive forward our real estate strategy.

This role also provides analytics on the portfolio. Working with and supporting key special projects and strategy.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee lease negotiation for renewals, acquisitions or disposition terms with landlords (financial & non-financial terms).
  • Review and interpret legal documentation (Lease Amendments and Extension Agreements).
  • Collaborate with business partners to present real estate transactions and recommendations at various committees and / or off-
  • line to gain direction, alignment, and final approval

  • Maintain our competitive edge in the marketplace and in negotiations by having gathered and analyze information on market conditions / rents and competing availabilities
  • Ensure leases are reviewed, analyzed, and interpreted for correct legal and operational terms.
  • Manage the various department lease files ensuring that all documentation, invoices and correspondence is filed in accordance with standards.
  • Deliver all fully executed leases to Lease Administration for scanning and permanent storage

  • Prime on Special Projects relating to Real Estate.
  • Qualifications

  • University Degree / College Diploma
  • Five to ten years, in retail / commercial real estate leasing (landlord or tenant experience)
  • Extremely detail oriented
  • Ability to review and negotiate transactional language in leases or lease amending agreements
  • Ability to work well in a team environment with a successful track record of collaboration with different Business Functions to achieve a single aim
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills to develop highly effective business partner relationships
  • Strong negotiation and Influencing skills
  • Strong analytical abilities and strategic thinking.
  • Advanced abilities in using Microsoft Office (specifically Excel & Powerpoint), knowledge of Google suite is an asset
  • Highly organized with an ability to and manage demanding volume workloads
  • Excellent oral and written communications skills, with the ability to interact and present to all levels of management and articulate concepts that involve interpretation, analysis and assessment.
  • Must Have Skills :

  • Ability to review and negotiate transactional language in leases or lease amending agreements
  • 5-7 years retail lease negotiation
  • Strong excel and powerpoint experience
  • Knowledge and aptitude for retail business, excellent communication skills
  • Nice to Have Skills :

  • Experience with mapping software (esri)
