Summary :

This position is responible for providing support to the assigned Category Management team on day to day business activities including data entry, communications to Vendors, Store Services, Inventory Managers, Marketing, utilizing sales data to assist in business planning and assisting with advertising promotions which are on very strict deadlines.

Specific Responsibilities Assist the Category Manager in developing overall category objectives, financial goals, market penetration and leadership positioning strategy for assigned categories.

Provide support to the Category Management team in developing overall category objectives in order to meet financial and volume targets.

Ensure that all financial and advertising templates are maintained and up to date. This includes proofing and providing feedback to the Category Manager prior to templates being signed off on and ad going to production.

Assist in the development of sales and promotional plans including advertising layouts, theme events, season opportunities and in-store activity in order to achieve category targets.

Assist in maintaining promotional calendar to maximize sales and profits in the assigned categories. Implement pricing strategies for categories and make recommendations in setting retail prices for individual items, in accordance with corporate guidelines for pricing.

Follow up with vendors on behalf of the Category Management team as directed and provide Category Manager with status updates.

Complete all assigned tasks that relate to the weekly execution of promotions. Complete scheduled category reviews in assigned categories.

Conduct analyses of retail history, advertising success, product movement and overall category management. In conjunction with Store Services, ensure that all store inquiries are responded to and dealt with in a timely fashion.

Monitor all competitive and industry activities regarding merchandising, marketing, assortment, pricing and promotions.

Assist the Merchandising team in developing product distributions & promotion plans for items featured on ad or as part of merchandising strategy / seasonal events.


  • College Diploma or University studies in a Business or related field required.
  • 3 - 5 years experience in store services / merchandising and / or inventory management role.
  • Advanced knowledge of Excel is required to produce effective, spreadsheets, reports, documents and presentations, as required.
  • Proficiency with Category Management Tools such as : SAP and BW
  • Strong analytical skills.
  • Attention to detail, creative thinking, ability to manage change, strong communication skills and customer focused.
  • Knowledge of relevant laws and regulations.
  • Occasional travel required.
