Goldcorp’s Coffee Project is currently in the Feasibility stage and is undergoing permitting in Yukon, Canada. Preparing for project execution to start in 2020, the project team is working with the prime EPC contractor to ramp up and advance the project into basic engineering and on through detailed design and eventual execution.

Reporting to the Engineering Manager, and serving as a key member of the Coffee Project development team, the Senior Mine Engineer, Coffee Project will use his / her expertise and knowledge in open pit mining and engineering to provide technical guidance and support development of the Goldcorp’s Coffee Gold Mine in Yukon, Canada.

The Senior Mine Engineer, Coffee Project will lead the project in the development of Mineral Reserves, and will lead pit and dump design in collaboration with both internal and external mining and geotechnical teams. Responsibilities

  • Develop and provide Qualified Person sign-off on project Mineral Reserves in adherence with Goldcorp’s practices and policies.
  • Collaborate with the Senior Resource Geologist to ensure alignment and consistent design criteria are applied across Resource / Reserve disciplines.
  • Liaise with Goldcorp’s Technical Services team to ensure reserve models meet corporate standards.
  • Oversight of external mining consultants, including the prime EPC contractor’s team.
  • Assist the Studies team in the development of models for evaluation studies, including the development of Concept and Pre-Feasibility studies.
  • Complete pit designs, dump and stockpile designs, pit shells, and recommend appropriate courses of action.
  • Collaborate with the Mine Engineer to develop mine models.
  • Provide technical mining leadership to the project team.
  • Evaluate new and existing technologies, methods, and equipment to maximize project value.
  • Qualifications

  • 10-15 years of open-pit mining experience in a mineral reserve development role, with preference to northern experience.
  • Bachelor Degree or higher in Mine Engineering or a related field.
  • Registered, or eligible for registration, as a Professional Engineer in Yukon.
  • Experience and demonstrated competence in the completion of Mineral Reserve estimates.
  • Demonstrated understanding of the importance of geology-rock mechanics-mining-metallurgy integration in all project designs (geo-mine-met).
  • Strong knowledge in Safety and Sustainability best practices.
  • Works effectively in multicultural and multidiscipline environments.
  • Superior oral and written communication skills, relationships management and partnership building skills.
  • Able to travel regularly to local Yukon communities, Vancouver, and the project site.
  • During construction and operations, the position may become rotational fly-in-fly-out at the project site.
