Historical, psychological and cross-cultural exploration of traditions and practices built on a belief in paranormal phenomena, including witchcraft, magic, occult, and related experiences, in relation to traditional notions of religious behaviour.


  • Course dates - September 5 to December 5; Teaching and course evaluations - November 19 to 30 ; Labour Day - September 3;
  • Thanksgiving - October 8; Reading week - October 21 to 27; Study Break - December 6; Classes are cancelled on Monday, October 8 and will be held on Wednesday, December 5, when usual Monday schedule will apply.

    Exam period. Exams are scheduled during week and weekend, both during the day and in the evening. - December 7 to 20; Deferred exam period - February 17 to 23.

    Please refer to the sessional dates as published by the Office of the Registrar , including the official examination period.

    The course schedule may be amended.

    Minimum Requirements

    M.A. in Religious Studies or equivalent. Expertise in course topic required.

    An acceptable level of education / experience could be viewed as being equiv. to the educational require. and / or demonstrated experience If you are invited to continue the selection process, please notify us of any adaptive measures you might require.
