oriented, eager to learn, develop and hone your analytical skills, application development and market analysis experience, this Associate position in our Investment Management Analytics team might be the right opportunity for you.

Help us deliver the best portfolio and market insights and tools to support the needs of our portfolio managers.

The primary purpose of this role is maintaining our various equity and multi-asset portfolios in our performance measurement system, and reporting weekly, monthly and quarterly performance and risk analysis.

The analyst will be the key lead on portfolio performance and risk and will work within the analytics team as well as collaborate with the various Investment Committees for the portfolios to ensure the teams have the full understanding of portfolio positioning, performance and risk attribution.

Finally, the analyst will work to improve the process and add new capabilities based on evolving needs, and will be the primary expert of performance and risk.

What will you do?

  • Support the development and execution of I&T’s strategy for performance and risk reporting and analysis.
  • Support I&T’s ability to capitalize on opportunities to increase the efficiency and effectiveness of RBC Wealth Management’s investment strategy by partnering with the Investments & Trading team and various groups across RBC focused on improving our performance and risk process and capabilities.
  • Ensure accuracy and quality through production of management summaries and reports while meeting timelines on recurring reporting needs.
  • Ensure accurate validation of holdings, other data, rate of return calculations.
  • Continued development of risk capabilities including stress testing reporting and maintenance of custom reporting models.
  • Opportunity to learn and understand multi-factor models for risk management.
  • Ensure policies and procedures are implemented and documented.
  • Ad hoc projects and data analysis (performance attribution, risk attribution, risk analysis (VaR, Vol, ETL, etc) as directed.
  • Must Have :

  • Undergrad degree in Business, Economics, Computer Science, etc
  • Minimum 2+ years relevant experience in performance / and or risk analysis.
  • Knowledge of financial systems (FactSet, Bloomberg, etc)
  • Great attention to detail.
  • Demonstrate the ability to interpret and provide insightful commentary on performance results, including the impact of market factors and other drivers.
  • Strong communication skills able to effectively translate investment / financial data into portfolio commentary.
  • Nice to Have

  • CIPM (Certificate in Investment Performance & Measurement) or CFA or other relevant financial designation, or commitment and significant progress towards achieving either designation is preferred.
  • Some programming knowledge and experience (Visual Basic for Applications (VBA), Python, Matlab, R, Tableau, etc) with the opportunity for more training.
  • Knowledge and understanding of financial data and data management (SQL).
