We are looking for a senior solid waste and recycling professional to join our group delivering solid waste and recycling solutions to First Nations across Canada.

Flexibility on the office location is available, ideally in Manitoba or Northern Ontario however, other office locations or remote working arrangements can be accommodated based on the candidate.

This position will work with our solid waste group across Canada delivering long-term community specific solid waste and recycling solutions to First Nations.

This position will focus on delivering solutions in Manitoba and Northern Ontario with support from our solid waste professionals in Ontario, Alberta, British Columbia and Atlantic Canada.

The successful candidate will work with our team members based on the collaborative approach we have implemented across Canada in helping First Nations develop and implement solid waste and recycling programs that are community specific and planned for long-term sustainability.

The successful candidate will be responsible for :

  • Providing project management and technical leadership in delivering solid waste and recycling solutions collaboratively with focus on First Nations in Manitoba and Ontario
  • Where opportunities arise providing project management leadership on delivering water / wastewater and power projects to First Nations and remote communities in Manitoba and Ontario.
  • Facilitating meetings with First Nation council and other stakeholders
  • Good understanding of public funding programs and its applications to First Nation communities
  • Build effective and positive working relationships with key community stakeholders, First Nation consultation offices, and community administrative offices to enable access to lands and resources.
  • Foster positive local community relationships by coordinating and participating in community cultural events
  • Skills, Competencies and Qualifications :

  • University degree in Engineering or Science.
  • 5 to 15 years’ experience on developing solid waste solutions for small and medium sized communities
  • Direct experience with First Nation communities in Manitoba and Northern Ontario
  • Familiar with current solid waste policies, procedures and trends in solid waste in Manitoba and Ontario
  • Ability to travel and work in remote communities
  • Demonstrates a strong commitment to achieving goals, ability to work in challenging, fast-paced environment.
  • A team player in a multi-cultural environment and can interact at all levels of the corporate organization
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a multi-discipline team
  • Strong persuasive influencing skills
  • Project Management skills and experience
  • Able to manage / direct several projects at once and determine priorities.
