Senior Design Researcher (Digital Customer Experience & Design Team)
What is the opportunity?
RBC is seeking an experienced Senior Design Researcher who can help transform the way Canadians interact with money and think about their financial well-being.
The Design Researcher will play a key role in ensuring digital experiences are based on a strong foundation of well understood client needs while impacting clearly defined business challenges.
This role is responsible for working directly with Product Managers and product design teams to ensure we applythe appropriate research methods for any given situation with a mandate to always push the boundaries to ensure the deepest understanding of our clients as possible.
The successful candidate will have proven skills in problem framing, contextual research, insight synthesis, concept and prototype evaluation and assist with releases and optimization.
You also have the confidence to persuasively present to cross-functional Agile teams and diverse senior executive audiences.

What will you do?
Collaborate with business partners to plan research so we can understand key customers better and reveal new opportunities
Guide design research activities to define current state customer pain points and map ideal future experiences
Facilitate research through collection, analysis and producing insights to lead the team towards user outcomes
Assess product’s market fit and advocate for business growth through design innovations
Understand user workflows and assist design team in iterating on customer requirements
Collaborate closely with designers, engineers, product managers, and other disciplines to design, implement, and track the success of products
Develop and deliver presentations to influence and guide key decision partners to better understand and bring into focus the most important client needs
Continually learn and grow your skills by understanding the design research landscape and keeping up to date with the latest research trends and practices
What do you need to succeed?
Passion for learning about people and their motivations and behaviour in the worlds they inhabit
Comfortable working on ambiguous and multifaceted fuzzy problems with multidisciplinary teams in a dynamic environment
Ability to comfortably switch between the details of the data and the bigger picture
Experience at designing lean research plans and stimuli that tease out latent needs with clients
Ability to synthesize research into clear insights that can persuade diverse internal partners of their relevance and importance
Ability to create, sell and execute generative and evaluative research approaches appropriate to the scope of a given engagement
Technically proficient with design research methods, techniques and tools
Open minded, kind, considerate, positive yet assertive, focused on user outcomes and generally great to work with
Graduate degree in Design, Psychology, Human Factors, Industrial Design, Human-Computer Interaction preferred, or comparable work experience
