Our Woodbridge based food manufacturing client, is looking to add a QA Specialist to their growing team. The incumbent must have experience in the food industry specifically with labelling regulations for the USA and Canada.
Verify records, daily, weekly and monthly
Draft for approval, update and implement HACCP, BRC and other related programs
Train new and existing employees on quality and regulatory requirements, new product launches / processes and associated record keeping.
Handle customer complaints
Issue supplier non-conformances
Implementation of GMPs
Review shelf life analysis results of new and existing products
Create product specifications using approved guidelines
Sample preparation for third party testing
Label preparation and nutritional calculation for new products, sample preparation for customers
Assign projects and duties for Quality Assurance Technicians,
Understand production processes and their effect on the quality of product,
Participate in 3rd party (BRC, HACCP, organic, MSC) and CFIA audits
Participate in trials and audits by customers.
Label approval from CFIA, USDA, QAI, kosher etc.
Ensure that GMP's and CCP's are adhered to in the plant.
Performs the following monitoring tasks and records :
Verification of Printed Labels Record
Final Label Verification Record
Knowledge / Experience / Skills
Bachelor of Science, preferably Food Science, Microbiology, Chemistry / Biochemistry.
Minimum of 5 years' experience in Food Manufacturing Facilities, Laboratories, preferably in Quality Assurance.
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Requires a strong working knowledge of HACCP, BRC and other Food Regulatory requirements in Canada and the USA
Good computer skills (Microsoft Office), databases.
Ability to work under pressure in meeting the production demands of the business and responding effectively to a rapidly changing environment.
Ability to support a cross-functional plant management team.
Positive and professional demeanor.
Excellent prioritization skills.
Ability to multi task.
Works in warm, cool and cold environments, constantly moving, ability to left up to 30 lbs.
