We are seeking a creative, hands-on individual with strong analytic and applied research skills to advance the Foundation’s strategic results framework.

We not only strive to track the "bottom line," but also to evaluate and learn from the process of getting there.

Your primary responsibility will be to lead the day-to-day implementation of our results framework. With guidance from the Director, you will build the roadmap, tools, processes and related materials for strengthening organizational performance measurement.

You will work collaboratively with programs leads across the Foundation to ensure that outcomes data is captured, reported and interpreted in timely ways that enhances capacity and effectiveness, informs program improvements, and leads to greater social impact.

You will also contribute to strategic initiatives that span our entire organization. You will use a theory of change approach to help navigate complexity, conceptualize project designs, and map the conditions that accelerate and scale impact through future initiatives.

Supporting cross-functional and senior management teams, you will foster a culture of learning and innovation across the organization, as well as gain broad experience and exposure to unique challenges and opportunities in the social sector.

Impact evaluation design

  • Develop and maintain a system for monitoring progress related to the Foundation’s impact goals and strategic performance measurement framework;
  • identify sources of available data, and if not readily available, the most efficient method for collecting the data

  • Work collaboratively across departments to identify appropriate indicators and benchmarks, and enable the timely and reliable monitoring of results against strategic goals
  • For specific initiatives, design theories of change / logic models, prioritize reporting requirements, and ensure high quality approaches to evaluation methodologies tools and measures
  • Research best practices in relation to specific aspects of evaluation via literature review, needs assessment, internet searches and / or contacts with other leading organizations
  • Data monitoring, analysis and communication

  • Coordinate all aspects of data collection logistics, documentation and critical paths, ensuring data accuracy and completeness, including drilling down into data by program
  • Use data visualization tools to support strategic learning and key decision-making
  • Analyze, validate, interpret and prepare outputs (e.g., fact-bases, charts, powerpoint decks, briefing notes, etc.) on qualitative and quantitative data streams, with a focus on communicating findings in meaningful and actionable ways
  • Contribute to the communication of the Foundation’s impact , and provide lead technical support to teams preparing reports for donors and other stakeholders, to ensure alignment with overall framework
  • Cross-functional collaboration

  • Provide a strong impact perspective and project management support for annual planning, business case development and strategic initiatives reviews
  • Take an active role in strengthening the Foundation’s culture of innovation, learning and accountability through a broad knowledge base of evaluative trends and best practices
  • Contribute to organization-wide evaluation processes as required, facilitating discussions and assisting teams with interpreting and applying findings
  • Assist in liaising with advisors or external sources, and in the selection and oversight of external evaluation suppliers, as appropriate
  • Qualifications

    An equivalent combination of education, job related experience and skills will be considered.

    Education / Certifications

  • Graduate degree in Social Sciences, Health Sciences / Health Services or related discipline
  • Training and certification (e.g., Credentialed Evaluator (CE) designation) preferred
  • Experience and skills

  • 1-2 years in evaluation, monitoring or performance measurement in social service research or public health programs, involving direct responsibility for deliverables
  • 1-2 years applying qualitative, quantitative, mixed methods, and statistical trending
  • Highly developed analytical, problem-solving and critical thinking skills
  • Strong interpersonal, consultation, and organizational skills, including the ability to interface effectively with diverse groups of stakeholders and all levels of management
  • Adept at seeking and weighing opinions and evidence compromising where necessary on ways and means, but not on principles or goals
  • Solution-oriented self-starter who enjoys generating and exploring ideas
  • Effective communication and presentation skills to prepare wide range of outputs and help stakeholders understand data
  • Close attention to detail with a focus on excellence and ability to balance multiple major assignments concurrently
  • Proficiency using various applications to structure or visualize data (e.g., SPSS, Tableau); familiarity with specialized approaches (e.
  • g., SROI, bibliometrics) is an asset

  • French language proficiency is an asset
