Full-Time Temporary Replacement Support Staff Position (August 2018 - March 29, 2019) Please note, Full-Time Support Staff will be given first consideration.
We require a qualified individual to assist multi- barriered, unemployed and underemployed workers, (youth, mature workers, internationally educated professionals and career changers) to prepare for, explore, access and retain employment.
Service area can include Kitchener, Waterloo and surrounding rural areas.
Using a customer centric approach, the incumbent tailors, develops, facilitates and manages outcomes of workshops / seminars and information sessions
Develops online, and interactive job search, and career development workshop sessions that meet established objectives, content, workshop resources, approved AODA delivery method and evaluation method.
Works in a consultative manner to adjust interventions and approaches, taking into account personal and social compatibility of individuals, their capacities, interests and particular needs of individuals within the group.
Provides information and interventions that assist participants to increase their employability skills and capacity for career / employment / training decision making..
Researches and assesses merits of new resources and resource materials by evaluating and seeking feedback (Manager, CCC staff and customers) for revising materials on an ongoing basis.
e. g maintains up-to-date labour market information
Ensures continued support for access to other required services and programs, i.e. literacy, settlement services and any other service(s) that support the client employability and resolving potential stability issues while maintaining ongoing work relationships and rapport with all parties involved
Promotes the Conestoga Career Centre and services in the community & maintains positive public relations
Advises community partners, agencies and educational institutions for referral arrangements
Participates in relevant community groups to maintain linkages via face to face, telephone and virtual methods, and encourage coordination of service delivery
Participates in relevant trade shows, job expos and career fairs.
Facilitates Client Service duties through staff rotation in the Career Centre (usually 1 day a week)
Coaches self-directed or registered customers in the resource centre
Facilitates the registration requirements and / or the guidance for the customer to proceed with their Employment Service Plan.
Record and report information as required in an accurate, complete and timely manner
Documents client data in a consistent, reliable and verifiable manner and, updates on client progress and mandated documents in secured confidential files
Maintains records and provides information for statistical reports and management reports, monitoring site and individual progress towards targets on a monthly basis
Three year diploma / degree in a Social Sciences discipline
Two years of experience as a facilitator in a career / employment setting with diverse populations requiring career planning and / or job search assistance
Intermediate MS Word Skills
Understand career development models and Essential Skills
Ability to work as part of a team and independently
Awareness of other programs and services in the community
Excellent communication, assessment, and interviewing skills
Ability to use group facilitation skills and techniques in a life skills format
Ability to use non-violent crisis intervention
Empathy, tact, patience, forthrightness and a sincere desire to help the customer
Strong problem solving and critical thinking skills
High level of time management and organizational skills, ability to multi-task
Ability to travel to other locations to provide services
Life Skills Coaches Training and Career Development Practitioner Certificate are considered assets
