Knowledge :

  • University degree / college diploma and professional / MBA qualifications, or equivalent work experience
  • 15+ years of Capital Markets experience, including experience in leading implementations, group effectiveness, and enhancing people performance
  • Strong knowledge of Operation and / or Project Delivery
  • Strong background developing and maintaining relationships with colleagues / peers (internal / external) to ensure business objectives are met
  • PMM Certification Preferred
  • Strong process and control change management capabilities spanning front to back office activities.

  • Technical knowledge of payment and trading products is an asset

    Key Accountabilities : Managerial Leadership

    Managerial Leadership

    Lead and manage the implementation and execution of all initiatives and processes in support of I&CB and Corporate directives and strategies, including performance management, and managerial development plans.

    Implement initiatives that foster the growth of a high-performance culture within the business unit.

    Develop and implement managerial development plans, communications and culture strategies to ensure clear direction is established for all staff within the business unit.

    Develop and sustain an effective multi-level business unit; ensure the quality of effective project management practices of reporting team members.

    Develop and maintain excellent relationships with internal business partners, external customers and LOB senior management.

    For large, complex initiatives, facilitate large group requirements gathering sessions with stakeholders from various LOBs to ensure that all impacted parties have an opportunity to express their requirements.

    B. Change Management

    Develop one- to two-year tactical and strategic direction for the business unit and assist in the development of longer-

    term business unit strategies in order to support PO / T&O / enterprise-wide business direction and objectives.

    Model and lead change. Ensure managers effectively prepare business unit team members for change.

    Foster an environment of continuous improvement, and encourage the team to identify process improvements / new ideas and adopt best practices.

    Maintain an awareness and understanding of relevant industry trends, best PO practices and issues and their potential impact, and formulate an appropriate direction where required.

    Liaise with Corporate Compliance and Legal areas regarding regulatory changes or recently enacted regulatory reforms

    Identify business need for change to products, offerings, services, technology and business process requirements.

    Maintain contact with network groups to understand the competitive landscape, keep abreast of industry developments, securities processing, new products and compliance requirements related to the industry.

    C. Product & Process

  • Act as the key interface with LOB partners for processing services for their area of specialty. Act as Capital Markets Project Delivery lead representative in analyzing, and developing requirements to ensure the end product meets or exceeds business requirements.
  • Provide direction for business stakeholders.
  • Provides consultancy, collaborates with, and provides advice to business partners on system automation, applicability of technology and supports process improvements.
  • Develop and implement proactive strategies that maximize the efficient use of the business unit's resources.
  • Ensure the availability, delivery, timeliness and accuracy of all supported services.
  • Establish and maintain governance over processes that contribute to operational effectiveness.
  • Maintain a broad understanding of all major changes to the LOB and to PO businesses that have the potential to impact service.
  • Provide leadership with other members of the senior management team to deliver effective execution of all services to meet productivity, quality service and business plan goals.
  • D. Risk & Control

  • Provide leadership to the executive by playing a key role in defining requirements for contingency, disaster recovery management and business continuity planning.
  • Meet regularly with senior internal business partners and LOB executives to ensure operational risks are tracked and addressed.
  • Identify business unit control risks and gaps, ensure appropriate action plans are in place to address the risk.
  • Ensure that all major problems, trends, risks and exposures related to the services provided are addressed so as to minimize the impact to customers.

    Establishes project governance, ensures appropriate documentation established, obtains business unit approvals for new projects and initiatives.

    Authorities :

    This role has the authority to :

    Recommend major changes and enhancements to strategy, solutions, products, operational processes, policies, procedures, and standards.

    Recommend SLA / BPA requirements with LOB and other stakeholders.

    Recommend changes to performance measurements and operational results from which volume production, resource utilization and technology / equipment capacities can be assessed.

    Deploy resources (physical, financial and human) as appropriate to meet business goals and project objectives.

    Recommend stopping a project already underway and / or stopping a process because of significant compliance or risk exposure.

  • Recommend or approve hiring, management support services (Client) and reward (compensation and recognition) decisions; assign work and limits;
  • manage performance (measure, monitor, corrective action); recommend termination decisions.

    Approve expenditures in accordance with Corporate guidelines.

    Working Conditions :

    This job requires minimal lifting or prolonged periods of sitting or standing. The working environment provides minimal exposure to discomfort or risk to safety.

    When reviewing information, this job requires focused visual concentration in deciphering information with challenging deadlines.

    The job requires off-hour commitments at times as dictated by the business. Carrying a wireless device is required. May require unscheduled extra hours for prolonged periods on system / application incident recoveries or project initiatives.

    May be required to work on statutory holidays and within differing time zones as dictated by the business.

    20% Travelling from Toronto to : Montreal, Chicago, Milwaukee
