General Responsibilities :
Provides quality nursing care and serves as an occupational health nurse supporting plant operations and activities.
Identify health needs of employees and administer WSIB claims
Responsible for providing the on-site promotion and restoration of health, prevention of illness and injury and protection from work-
related and environmental hazards.
Provides health education and promotion programs to address population health needs such as smoking cessation, exercise and fitness, proper lifting techniques, nutrition, weight control, hypertension and stress management.
Maintains medical records in accordance with established guidelines.
STD / LTD case management
Responsible for entering data on the first aid log.
Maintain an understanding of the specific job hazards related to employee health.
Willingness to work closely with the Safety managers at the division level to recognize hazards and prevent injuries.
Facilitate and assist with scheduling wellness programs
Partnering with professional health resources and department supervision to develop and
place injured workers into modified / light duty assignments which meet their physical
capabilities and promote rehabilitation.
Diploma / Degree and / or certificate in nursing related filed.
Familiarity with federal and provincial regulations applicable to occupational and environmental Health and Safety.
Understanding how to prevent and manage occupation injuries
Utilize medical skills to manage stressful situations through effective communication, accurate assessment, and the provision / recommendation of appropriate care.
Experience working in a manufacturing or heavy industrial environment
Excellent oral and written communication skills as well as interpersonal.
