Strike is looking for Apprentice Welders with relevant experience in oil & gas construction projects. Typical welds include joining components such as beams, girders, vessels, and piping, and all jobs are completed as per welding procedure specifications, weld maps and work packages.

CORE ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Performs any combination of following duties to assist workers in welding, brazing, and thermal and arc cutting activities : Moves workpieces, tools, and supplies, manually or by hand truck.
  • Welding of pipe spools with an emphasis on Safety, Quality and Production while working in accordance to client specifications and Strike's weld procedures.
  • Lifts, moves and holds, or clamps workpieces to table, into jigs, or into position as directed, manually or by using hoist, pry bars, wrenches, hammer, and wedges.
  • Cleans work pieces to remove impurities, such as slag, rust, and grease, using wire brush, portable grinder, hand scraper, or chemical solutions.
  • Connects hoses from hand torch to oxygen and fuel gas cylinders or connects cables from power source to electrode holder and workpiece or fixture.
  • Starts gasoline engine to activate electric generators
  • Removes, tags or marks, and moves finished work.
  • May attach grappling equipment to objects preparatory to movement by crane.
  • Work with Nondestructive Testing Inspector
  • Conduct repairs, modifications and retrofits
  • Record and track heat numbers on pipe and fittings for Quality Control
  • QUALIFICATIONS

  • 3+ months of industrial / construction / general labour experience
  • Registered with the appropriate apprenticeship board as a Welding Apprentice
  • Must successfully complete pre-employment drug and alcohol test
  • H2S Alive, WHIMIS, CSTS, Fall Protection and AWP training is required
  • Standard First Aid is an asset
  • Valid Driver's License and a clean driving record
  • KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

  • Capable of working as part of a team to achieve project goals
  • Fluent in speaking, reading, and writing English
