Reporting to the Wintel Services Supervisor, and as part of our technical services team, the incumbent will assist in providing support services for the availability, quality of service, monitoring and reporting of Postmedia’s Windows Server and Windows Sever Operating System environments.
The successful candidate will be self-motivated, with a strong work ethic and excellent analytical, communication and interpersonal skills.
WORK DESCRIPTION AND ROLE
Responsibilities include (but not limited to) :
Install, configure, maintain and support enterprise Microsoft Windows / Citrix systems;
Monitor, manage and report on infrastructure status, performance and capacity;
Plan, install and test software deployments and updates;
Perform root cause analysis and proactive problem identification;
Troubleshoot and recover from infrastructure failures and performance issues;
Understand and follow ITIL processes for service management, as well as other established work practices and standards;
Maintain productive working relationships with members of the Windows team and the broader Business Technology team;
Track and report weekly on work-related activities;
Respond to support calls in a timely manner, which may include after-hours while serving on-call rotation;
Develop, maintain and improve standards, procedures and documentation as required;
Maintain and build upon knowledge of supported technologies as well as new technological developments that may benefit the business;
Maintain and build upon knowledge of industry standards and best practices and keep abreast of trends that may be relevant to the business.
Deploy and manage solutions for system performance assessment and tuning;
Implement, maintain and validate solutions for preventative maintenance, data protection, high availability and disaster recovery;
Engage in routine system audits and baseline analysis to ensure compliance with corporate policy and best practices
Experience managing Active Directoy.
Citrix experience supporting published applications
Experience supporting Windows Server, File and Print services
Should be familiar with Windows Infrastructure such as DNS, DHCP, Active Directory
Some knowledge of Powershell
Basic VMWare skills
Knowledge of FTP and IIS
Excellent communications skills to technical and non-technical audiences
Ability to work and adapt in a fast paced environment
