NAIT’s Department of Continuing Education is seeking contractors to invigilate English Language Proficiency exams (ELP) as well as perform speaking and writing evaluations.

Experience evaluating English language proficiency is required.

Contract Administration Responsibilities : You will be required to invoice NAIT for your services, including GST, submit for statutory remittances and obtain relevant insurance including WCB coverage.

The term of these contracts will vary between the months of September to December 2018.

Contract Deliverables :

ELP Invigilators : set up each section of the exam (Writing, Reading, Listening and Speaking), provide speaking assessors with speaking assessment packages, sign-

in students, verify candidates are taking required sections of the exam, administer each section of the exam as required, write reports after each exam and troubleshoot as required.

Assume responsibilities in adhering to exam administration standards including understanding and administrating the procedures required to administer the exam, and avoiding any conditions in the conduct of the assessment that might invalidate the results.

Writing Assessors : evaluate ELP writing, confer with the co-marker and report grades

Speaking Assessors : conduct speaking assessments face to face during scheduled exam times on Saturdays, utilize appropriate educational technology for communications and presentations, maintain professional ethical relationships with students and colleagues, respond professionally to student issues and concerns, maintain student attendance and other documentation as required.

Qualifications :

Minimum Bachelor’s Degree and TESL qualifications mandatory.Related Master Degree would be an asset

Credentials obtained outside of Canada must be evaluated by World Education Services or the International Qualifications Assessment Service (IQAS) -

Previous experience evaluating English Language Proficiency

Previous experience administering exams

Previous experience teaching adult ESL students would be an asset

Theoretical and practical knowledge of adult second language learning

Strong verbal and written communication skills

Basic computer skills including Microsoft Word and Excel

Strong interpersonal and collaborative skills
